Barney Ross was lw, lww and ww champ in the 30s. Great resume with some wins over consensus Top15-20 p4p atgs and some other HoFers. As good, if not slightly better, than Leonard´s at the top and deeper. Got beaten badly by Henry Armstrong in his last fight. He later would go on to become an American WW2 hero :
Due to the injuries he got there, he became an opium addict but overcame that too later on. Not only a great fighter but also a great man. A real hero. And one of the best textbook fighters there ever were. There are a few of his fights on youtube, without the fancy multi-cameras, hd and stuff of course. Worth to study him.

Nah, because it just wasn´t neither fighter is a great p4p fighter.

Only one man can say he beat a prime Sugar Ray Robinson, and that's Jake LaMotta.

    No and no, bro.

Both good and both probably the crowning achievement of each guys' legacy - but neither anywhere near Frazier-Ali.

The first, because it is far less clear a win and so disputed even to this day (and even if it weren't, a clear win over Ali in '71 beats a clear win over Hagler in '87).

The scond, because Roy was already drifting away from the greatness of his prime before the Tarver trilogy even began - and as much as it sounds like excuse making, the round trip to heavyweight being something of a factor simply can not be denied. Besides, a clear win over Ali in '71 would probably beat even a clear win over prime Roy.
