Marciano was involved in one decision that could have gone the other way (against Lowry the first time). At least one newspaper report disputed the verdict of the first LaStarza fight, too. So, Mayweather wasn't the only fighter who who received the benefit of the doubt in this discussion.
Floyd beat the number one and number 2 pfp if you pull him from the rankings. You can't put your arm above your head with a serious rotator injury and Marquez would establish himself as a top 147 fighter while further past prIme. I won't write you an essay because others have already ruined you.
LMAO... RIIIIGHTTT... So tell me, when did Marquez establish himself as a top Welterweight fighter. Please tell me the names that allowed him to accomplish that feat lol. That was like Marquez first fight at that weight and he looked totally lost. Sh1t he even looked like the much smaller guy in there, and this is suppose to impress me? I know you're a clown, but I'm assuming you already know he had been fighter for more than 15 years prior to meeting Floyd. He was on the downside of his career and well past his best weight, but of course, what a great win for Mayweather LMAO. Sorry kid, your thoughts on whether Pac was hurt or not is irrelevant. Your opinion counts for nothing, and certainly not more than the person claiming the injury who had surgery to repair it. When it comes to evidence, that grossly outshines your opinion on whether he was hurt. So again, that takes much of the luster off the victory, to say nothing of Pac also being on the downside of his career. Keep trying there shoes.
To be fair Marquez was in the top 2 at147lbs a couple of years later. It isn't like he retired or began losing more than he won after losing to Floyd.
I hope the guy that started this thread to stir Comparing these two records is impossible. They are both exceptional individual records, they stand in a class of their own that disengages comparisons.
No, but it seems likely he did discover steroids after the Mayweather fight. There seems to be a lot of this " after Floyd beat them they went on to do X, Y or Z", whereas Marciano gets penalized for ruining or sending guys into retirement. If Floyd has kicked some these guys asses like Marciano did to his opponents, maybe they'd have never gone on to do anything after.
It's quite true that Marciano ruined guys,I would suggest Charles, Walcott,Layne ,Lastarza, and Cockell fall into that category. He and Floyd are polar opposites in just about every way I can think of including character.
Oscar, Gatti, and Mosley were all done well BEFORE Floyd fought them. And Maidana just isn't that good. I consider Hernandez one of Floyd's three best wins (along with Corrales and Hatton). But, Hernandez was in his 30s and starting to slip himself. And he was battered even worse in his prime by Oscar De La Hoya three years earlier.
Wrong. Gatti was coming off arguably a career best win against Dorin. Mosley was the 147 champ and coming off a career second best win (and may have been using peds). Oscar never turned in a poor performance at 154, ever. Marciano was not exclusively beating fighters in their prime. He's known for the opposite.
He beat perhaps two who were of real quality, Layne who was a poor imitation of himself and Lastarza who was very carefully matched.
I agree with you bud, but all I'm saying is, when Floyd beat him, it was his first fight at that weight. A weight he clearly didn't adjust well to right away. Nor did he establish himself as a force at that weight prior to meeting Floyd. That is all I was saying.
