is shane beat cotto tonight and beat floyd next year than shane would have to rank higher than de la hoya because he took on more dangerous fights and more dangerous times.

if he loses tonight than de la hoya will still have the bettter resume bc of the earlier fights that he had against guys like sweat pea, chavez, ike quartey, tito and vargas.

    monetarily, oscar owns shane.

He has defeated more hall of famers and world champions. When you list out their wins, De La Hoya's resume is deeper. Plus he has won titles in 6 weight classes.

Because the best name on Shanes resume is, well Oscar  Kinda funny question here. Oscar has had much more BIG fights, made much more money and fought the better competition.

i dont think oscar necessarily fought better compettition, Oscar avoided guys like winky wright and vernon forrest. shane fought them.

however, he still has guys like sweat pea and chavez and tito on his resume, and whether or not they were past their primes to have them there says alot.

whether or not shane can beat cotto tonight and fight floyd can only mean that shane can match oscar resume. How we beat them determine's whether shane resume is better.

Shane fought oscar, winky, vargas and vernon forrest twice.
now he is fighting cotto and will fight floyd. those are very dangerous fighters.

oscar although having bigger names, took less risk in his career and was more hand picked.

De La Hoya does, but Mosley has the advantage head to head.

You can argue that De La Hoya should have won the rematch, but the first fight was more clear and with Mosley only having 2 fights @ 147, having gone up 2 divisions, and was when both guys were better. The rematch was an older DLH losing a controversial decision to a juiced-up Mosley who was a low point in his career.

But look outside head-to-head, and compare the wins and resumes, and DLH has the advantage.

SSM beat DLh prime for prime and was CLEARLY the better of the two:good

Who's had the better career? SSM

    Who's made more MONEY? DLH

Seems pretty clear IMO, although DLH has had the attention and bigger EVENTS.

de la hoya does not have the best record in the big fights.

he has lost to five different fighter although controversal.

to me, mosley has to beat cotto and floyd to better hoya's res.

if shane is able to accomplish this, it is the fact that he is an old man which makes it more impressive.
