I say even for now but when its all said and done with I will say B-Hop. I think Bernard got 1 or 2 fights left and he will be tremendous in both.

I think that Roy is the better fighter and in his prime more dominant that Bernard plus he has the win over nard. However even though I don't agree with it Roy's legacy seems to be that he wasted a lot of his prime years fighting nobodies and people always look for waysto discount his big wins wheras hopkins is constantly nuthugged.

Hopkins, Jones is diminishing his legacy by continuing to fight years out of his prime.

i agree with this comment had roy retired in 2004 after the ruiz's fight I would of said roy but with the way things turned out I pick hopkins because of his longevity and all his losses except for the jones loss are debatable.

Unless you consider beating up cops and garbage men a legacy, the only answer is Hopkins.

Hopkins BY FAR. I mean it's really not close.

The only actual P4P-ers Roy fought in his entire career were James Toney, Antonio Tarver and Joe Calzaghe with Tarver getting his position by beating Jones obviously. That's a record of 1-2 with 2 bad losses. Roy never became undisputed in any of his divisions (MW, SMW, LHW - Darisz Michalczewski was the lineal champ and Roy picked up the paper IBF/WBA belts when Tiger was stripped), HW.)

Hopkins' list vs. P4P-ers is a much better: Tito (KO12), DLH (KO9), Taylor LUD (Jermain obviously becaming a P4P-er by beating Hop), Tarver (shutout), Winky (UD), Calzaghe (SD), Pavlik (shutout) with his 3 losses in his prime (Taylor*2, Calzaghe) being extremely close/debated by some. He also unified all 4 ABC titles 1st time even in ABC titles history and made a record defense before winningt he LHW championship, all that 40+.

When Roy became slightly over the hill, he immediately started to get bad losses, couldn't adjust his style (well, up to 2008, when he started to look a bit better). Hopkins adjusted to his 40+ capabilities very well and was even more dominant vs. Pavlik than vs. Tito 7 years back.

Roy carefully picked opposition and missed a lot of names while Hopkins fought whoever they put in front of him, defying the odds many times. Roy fought John F*cking Ruiz for his so-called historical achievement for Chrissakes. John Quiet Hugger Ruiz. Roy also had issues with illegal substances, which is, or should be a VERY SERIOUS issue regarding his whole career (just take a look at how people react to Margarito's attempted cheating.)

Hopkins was never hyped as anything special, he made his ATG resume through hard work and against all odds, having to defeat top elite fighters one after another before fans/expercts/historians actually started to give credit to him. Roy was seriously hyped from day one and was called an ATG even before he put names down on his resume, unfortunate event at the Olympics, a unique style and a lot of flash, but in reality not even the half of the substance he's being credited for. His resume is truly not comparable to B-Hops and no behind-the-ass knockouts can change that, and this is coming from a fan of Roy.

Hopkins didn't present this as a challenge to Jones for any other reason. The fans can pretend Roy wasn't turned into a quivering cadaver by the likes of Tarver and Johnson. They can pretend Jones didn't get "pimp slapped" by Calzaghe as Hopkins put it - when it is now more clear than ever that Jones still has a tremendous amount of his arsenal still intact. They can pretend Roy Jones didn't collapse like a house of cards after the first real setback of his career - to this day, still not fully recovered, 5, 6 years later.

Hopkins can be picked apart as well, but there's no chance in hell Jones ever took - AND WON - fight after fight as a 4-1 underdog the way Hopkins so often has. Jones is a great offensive fighter, and a great athlete. Hopkins is a great fighter, period. History has no doubts about that. NONE.
