Who has the better LHW resume Michalczewski, Jones, Tarver, Hopkins, Johnson, Erdei

Building fight or not, I think fighters who travel abroad deserve respect. Obviously this is different to fighters who are shot aka Roy Jones who was never concerned with travelling but then suddenly when the money runs out he's going to Russia and Australia to make fights.

 

Tarver, without a doubt. He knocked out Roy Jones when Roy was near the top pfp and was multi light heavy titlist.

You also asked above what had Griffin done? He beat Toney and had a DQ win over Roy. He was the only man to have both Roy and Toney on his resume until Lebedev. When Roy knocked him out he was undefeated LHW world champion and ranked very high in the p4p list. That win is underrated by people who just look back on boxrec way after the fact and were not actually watching boxing when it happened.. At Griffin's very best, he was a damn good fighter. One could argue he was never quite the same after being knocked out by Jones.

You also have to take into account that Roy knocked Hill out with a single body shot, I believe Hill still was good enough at that point to have success at CW.

Roy and DM are quite similar actually in the fighters they beat, and I really think who had the greater LHW career of the list is between Roy and DM, but Roy did consistantly beat fighters in a more impressive fashion than DM and looked better doing it, which is part of the reason I have Roy higher.

 

His first fight was against McCallum for the interim Belt.

His second fight was against Griffin.

Whilst preparing for Griffin, he said he wanted Hill next.

But due to a moment of madness, the only thing on his mind after Griffin, was a rematch. After the rematch he took an extended break.

Why does it matter to you guys that Hill lost to DM before? So what?

Roy knocked him out with a beautiful body shot, but he doesn't get credit, because Hill lost to DM?

It's ridiculous!

All of this "Roy only fought Hill after he was prime" is nonsense too.

When was Hill past prime anyway?

Was he already past his prime when he beat Maske, before he lost to DM?

Was he already past his prime, before Roy fought at 175?

I'd love to know people's opinions.

Harmon was an easy win for Roy. Eric Harding was also tough fight to take.

When you consider who Roy fought, how he beat them, and the huge weight loss at nearly 35, after 49-50 fights, to fight a motivated Tarver, then in my opinion the resumes aren't even close.

 

It's nothing to do with the money running out.

You go to the champ.

Roy had the belts, fought on HBO, and was considered the best fighter on the planet. He didn't need to travel.

Now he's no longer man, and he's trying to win a Cruiser title, he'll happily go to other fighters back yards to try and move up the rankings and get a shot.

Fighters who travel do deserve respect. But guys like Roy had everything set up for them at home, and didn't need to travel.

 

RJJ runs around the world now because there is no basis for his egotism anymore. But in the day, HE was the man, and being the man, he wasn't going to go traveling the globe. He was egotistical as hell, with his loss all that superman egotism was diminished. He is nothing more than a washed up fighter, who based on his brilliant career, is merely a good fodder name to make someones resume look better.

He isn't in the position to demand anything, nor is he in the position to imagine that fighters should come to him for a fight. He HAS to come to fighters for a fight now, he has no choice, if he wants to achieve anything at all. Besides his name, what is he worth? So he will continue fighting obscure fights around the world, while they play highlights from 20+ years ago to promote his sad and tired fights, which are depressing. Which top Americans going to fight him? Calzaghe knew Jones was shot to pieces, he said so when he mentioned he would not fight this pitiful version of Jones. In a way, I think Calzaghe was just being nice, giving RJJ a good pay day, as RJJ probably begged for the fight.

I'm a Jones fan, just calling it what it is.
