Who has the better middelweight resume, Hopkins or Hagler?

    Hagler better MW resume and better MW, though not sure he'd beat Hopkins in a Head to Head.

    ESB syndrome. Hopkins is doing well now so he gets overrated a bit here.

    Yeah, I go with Hagler. You really have to discredit Haglers resume first to make Hopkins resume competitive. Toe-to-toe resume, it is not close.

    H2H, Hagler also wins.

    Works both ways, nostalgia hits hard (not to take anything away from Hagler) but I distinctly remember people people saying Duran would KO Pacquiao within 3 rounds if they fought at 135lbs prime for pime....this is just one example of people's memories blurring their judgement.

    EDIT: Duran would beat Pacquiao at 135lbs*

    paquiao v duran - prime for prime would have been ****ing awesome, i agree the people making out it would be easy for duran are talking bull****. what weight do you think would have been fair for that fight?

    Taylors style was a problem for Hopkins, that your right about but as far as him beating Hopkins, I don't see how people scored the fights for Taylor. I thought Hopkins started earlier in the second fight and outboxed Taylor more than he did in the first fight. Jermaine was very competitive because of his style because Hopkins had to come to him because of Taylors cautious approach with his speed and very long jab. But Hopkins neutralized that which is very impressive considering Taylor had the reach advantage, speed, and was able to dictate range in the fight, but Hopkins found his way in to smother Taylor at times and land the cleaner effective punches with lead right and 12 combinations. Taylor was awarded the fight because he was more active, which is true but the problem was the rounds that he was active in and not landing, were the rounds Hopkins was winning that he should of gotten credit for.

    When it comes to Hopkins career, he's been robbed in bad in fights and no way a champion is supposed to lose a spilt decision to the challenger that's just being competitive with him but Hopkins was never a likeable champion in the US and that contributed to it.

    How the op could leave out Mugabe I dont know. And how is joppy Hopkins best win?

    Overall at MW haggler has it because the MW division was stronger back then. Hopkins achievements since moving up though really raise his overall status

    Pacquiao is a natural 135lbs fighter IMO he eats **** loads to make welter (which he never does since he's always about 144/145) I think probably 140lbs would be fair for both guys though.

    Pac would beat Duran, the same way he did Diaz but it would be more competitive. Either way Pac I think is too fast and too much offense for Duran. This is bad style match up for Duran.
