The clear answer here is Whitaker. But it is closer than people think.

    It's Whitaker.

As time goes by, many are starting to realize that Jones actually fought alot of good fighters. In the moment in his career, they were disappointed that his resume didn't match his talent and he could have pushed himself more. But we as boxing fans are starting to realize while he could have pushed himself more, it doesn't mean he didn't fight good competition.

sweet pea over jones but only by a very thin thread.

Have to give credit to RJJ for beating Bhop, Lights out and McCallum(all HOFs)

A 40 year old McCallum in the last fight of his career, 21 pounds above his best weight. Let's take that into account.

There were other fights he could have fought. B-Hop at the time was not considered a huge win. Benn was a much bigger name as was Eubank (who turned Jones down at MW). Nunn was around, and some of the other names on his resume could be replaced with a bigger name. It's not about replacing Toney and Hopkins, but who he could have fought in between. At LHW, he fought everyone but DM.

But kg, didn't Eubank lose right after Jones beat Toney? And Nunn around the time Jones moved up to a complete unknown in Steve Little? To Jones, they probably weren't seen as much of a profit after that.

But guys like Byrd, Paz, Thornton, Lucas, Brannon, etc were?

The bottom line is, they still would've been much bigger, better names on his resume than the likes of those guys.

Jones didnt just beat Toney Hopkins RUIZ Mcullam etc
    He dominated.

Sweat Pea didnt dominate his biggest challenges, he actually lost 2 of them.

    I see your point.

However people feel Sweet Pea did dominate Chavez, and when you consider Chavez is miles ahead of anyone on Jones jr resume, that is a factor.
