we all know vitali would quite easily beat alexander pofatkin in a h2h sense but who has the better resume?
povetkin's best wins are probably (in no particular order):

    byrd
    chagaev
    huck
    chambers
    (shot to pieces) rahman

    vitali's best wins are:
    sanders
    peter
    adamek
    arreola
    solis

both are title holders (on paper) for quite a long time now without facing the real champion. one is unbeaten (but would loose to many heavyweight from the past but also present), the other has been beaten twice (but is h2h a monster that would give any heavyweight in history a run for his money). who do you rate higher soleley based on faced AND beaten opposition?

    Povetkin has Byrd.
Povetkin faced a man Vitali refused to face

Every boxing expert knows that Vitali never truly lost.

I don't see where the "of course" comes from. There's not a single good name on Vitali's resume. His wins over Hide and Kirk Johnson weren't bad but not I'm not sure if I'd rate them above a win over Chambers.

Vitali's reputation stems from his longevity and dominance, not from his resume.

EDIT: Forgot Adamek tbf. I don't rate Adamek at HW at all and felt Chambers boxed his ears off which is why a win over Chambers is far more worth than stomping Adamek.

Rahman shouldn't count Toney from the Browne fight would have annihilated him he couldn't even walk to the ring without problems because his knee's were so shot he had to hold on to the ropes not because he was rocked but because of his knees. Chagaev is a good win and Chambers even better. You can't really tell if Huck counts because he's only had 1 fight at HW and we don't know how well he would do against other HWs

Vitali would ruin Povetkin & Wladamir on the same night.
Big brother is the only reason Wlad still has belts.

You cant count Huck (not a heavyweight) or Rahman (he literally couldnt even walk to the ring ffs). Chambers and Adamek cancel each other out, so you're left with Byrd/Chagaev vs Vitali's resume - TA...hmmmm......

If you can't count Huck because he's not a hw, Joe Louis isn't a top 10 ATG heavy.

Or do you think a victory over Mayweather at welterweight doesn't count because he was a superfeather?

    Singular wins......really hard to say.

    Potvetkin
Chambers....... Best win. A great overall win for Potvetkin because of what Chambers has accomplished at the upper level.

Chagaev........His second best win. Chagaev is STILL a top HW, and would be a H2H contender in almost every era. Former titlist with several huge wins.

Byrd......a great win for Potvetkin, but not quite as good as the others because Wladimir Klitschko essentially ruined Byrd. Byrd's resume was a great one, only beaten by the very best, but also seemed to only fight the top dawgs.

Huck.....time will tell if Huck is gonna be a great win. He is a champion, and he is acquiring a very solid resume himself, but it is at the lower weight, and without several very good wins, or at least one GREAT win at HW, it won't help Potvetkins resume.

Vitali....best wins were actually losses on Vitalis resume. Since it was injury not the fighter opposite him, who defeated him.

However, taking those fights away from Vitali seriously lower his overall resume. BUT......even with the large distance between PRIME Byrd, and his next best win, Vitali's resume is still quite solid, though not spectacular.

Most all his wins are better than shot Byrd and as good as Chagaev, but the version of Eddie Chambers whom Potvetkin defeated has an edge over Vitali's best wins.
Potvetkin had an elite level win, whereas Vitali has had many great wins.

Overall Vitali's is greater, however, the Potvetkin is still relatively young and looks to be continuing to improve on his credentials now. In time, Potvetkin SHOULD surpassed Vitali, but I think that has more to do with Vitalis missing 4 yrs of his prime, and not getting and beating Toney, Rahman, Holyfield, Valuev, Ruiz, Chambers, Byrd2 etc.:think

chagaev has several HUGE wins? hahaha no, not really. Head to Head in almost every era? doubtful. hes small, has no power against anyone ranked he fought. he is as over rated as they come
