Valuev and Ruiz are indeed huge wins. Both were titlists and I said Chagaev would be a contender in any era.

Not a H2H #1 or even top 3. But I wouldnt kick a prime Chagaev outta the top 10 in any era.:deal

Ummmmm....the OP was actually a pretty fair question.

Vitali missed 4 yrs of his prime and his resume suffers accordingly.

Also, Vitali is forced to fight fighters ranked by the WBC. Potvetkin can fight ranked fighters from any body.

OPs assessment of both fighters was fairly accurate and unbiased. I don't know why you'd jump his **** with your nonsense. All you did was give his post a free bump.

So heres another free bump on a good thread.:good

Povetkin's wins over Chambers, Chagaev & Byrd trumps anything on Vitali's resume.

I don't think there is even a competition here.

    You're right, Povetkin wins easily.

Vitali. And it's not even close. Guy has almost twice as many wins as Povetkin.

  9. Vitali would have gotten killed if the fight had gone on against Lewis............. why the **** didn't he fight lewis in 2000? He said he was ready for Lewis in 2000 but than fought mw chris byrd... than he said he 'wasnt' ready' after all and he will be ready for lewis in 2002.... but than he declined another offer.... finally he paid off kirk the whale to ambush lewis... but he still wasn't ready in 2003.. emannuel steward was right.. god bless his golden soul... vitali would never beat any version of lewis... the worst possible version of lewis beat him up... even the lewis who got knocked out by Rahman looked better... vitali is the single most overrated h2h entity in the history of boxing... I think Prime Lewis will hit him so hard.. he dies........... i wonder who vitali is going to fight next? Will it be stephen hawkins? i wonder if vitali will allow hawkins to bring his wheel chair.. since vitali love fighting shot fighters.. i wonder if he will go fight roy jones jr.... one thing is for sure.. it won't be on hbo.................

Byrd and Chagaev had both been hammered by Wladimir when Povetkin got them.
Champers is the only top HW Povetkin has beat.

    Povetkin:
    Champers
    Chagaev
    Huck
    Byrd
    Boswell
    Donald
    Rahman
    Heureux
    Nolan
    Estrada

    Vitali:
    Sanders
    Peter
    Hide
    Johnson
    Arreola
    Kevin Johnson
    Williams
    Adamek
    Gomez
    Solis

As soon as you leave the top 3 Povetkin's resume gets very weak, it is pretty much worth nothing when you get out of the top 5, Byrd and Chagaev where pretty washed when they faced Povetkin, I am not saying that Peter or sanders were prime when they faced Vitali, but they were closer to their prime than the other two.
(Didn't consider these top 10 wins that much, just first/quick thoughts).

yes, i agree. if we take a look at more than just the top 3 - 5 of vitali's and povetkin's opponents we can say that vitali faced a higher number of decent opponents.
