Both throw a lot of punches. Who is your take on this?

Margarito throws more punches per round and his punches have bad intentions....

Joe throws not as many punches, and many are just arm punches with no power

    Margarito stalks sluggishly

Joe Bounces and uses great movement for 12 rounds

I would say both get a A + for stamina , but the workrate of Margarito is much more impressive than Calzaghe's

    I give Calzaghe the edge.

Margarito, he's hunting. Calzaghe is like an alley cat in there just banging around for no reason alot of the ****ing time. Calzaghe is trying to win every second, but he gives up his effectiveness in key ways I never see with Margarito, who's always plotting. Margarito makes it work better. Rarely loses control.

tough to say because margarito punches with some weight. calzaghe pop-shots and slaps for most of the fight but he fights more on his toes. I'm gonna have to edge margarito because it takes stamina to throw punches and take punches....margarito does both very frequently.

    Margarito.

In Calzaghe's favor though, he fights at a higher weight class which makes his workrate even more impressive.

But Margarito throws more punches with leverage behind them and intent to hurt, while the faster Calzaghe is more happy to throw a lot of quick arm shots just to lay leather on the opponent (although he sometimes turns a well-timed shot over in between the arm punches).

Mayweathers stamina is insane also. The man is never tired but he doesnt throw as much punches as Calzaghe or Margarito.

Neither fighter had/has one punch power. This is not a true comparison imo. Cal is by far the superior fighter, and the busier fighter. AM is not on Cal's level. Cal's work rate...he never stops punching. Cal has a jab, AM doesn't. Cal uses his jab, always stays close, and throws to the head and body. He never takes a backward step.

I don't really care for Calzaghe's **** too much but Margarito did looked puched out in the 12th against Williams. Don't know if I ever seen Joe fade down the stretch. Voted Calzaghe he's just as effective but half as entertaining.

Very true. Margarito does put a bit more bad intentions into his punches so thats makes him stand out a lot but Calzaghe workrate is impressive even if it is a bunch of arm punches and for a naturally bigger guy.

In order to simulate the same disadvantages Margarito was facing against Williams, we would have to put weights on Calzaghe's arms and legs, and put his opponent in high heels. Then we'd be able to make a fair comparison.

I'd say Calzaghe because he's almost always on his toes, moving in and out of spots. That takes an additional toll on your stamina. Well, it should but he's like the energizer bunny.

The jab is the key as to who is the fighter with the better workrate and stamina between these two. I've never seen Cal tired in a fight. No fighter can throw bombs the whole fight, and expect to do this the entire fight. AM uses his jab as a range finder against boxers. Against Cotto, AM's jab landed at times. Cal throws his jab, is always walking forward... During Cal's whole career he has never taken a step backward, and if he did, he eventually stalked his quarry. During the Williams fight AM watched Williams early in the fight. During the Hop fight Cal came forward, and threw even when he missed. We are talking about two fighters who do throw a lot of punches.

    Margarito.

Stamina and workrate, like everything, are affected by the quality opposition. Joes stamina has never been tested by the likes of a young Cotto.

Yeah, I wish Cal had the chance to face a top of the line ex-middleweight at SMW. He'd have broken world records with his workrate lol...
