    Legacy is what you achieved.

    Resume is who you fought.

    Wow, biased much?

To the original thread, I guess you're trying to make an interesting point, but it's not really one. On paper they might be comparable, but Ruiz has been considered a paper champion and fighter for a long time. Joe's going to the Hall of fame. Really no comparison. Joe's beaten Nigel Benn, Kessler, Hopkins, Jones, & Lacy all very convincingly. It can be argued that Benn, Hopkins, & Jones where in the latter years of their careers but Joe still did his job and beat them easily.

So besides the win over Kessler, what has Calzaghe achieved that doesn't have an asterisk next to it?

I think the majority of the people voting for Calzaghe are voting because of the hate for Ruiz on this board, the rest are just ***gy brits.

I am a fan of neither man as a fighter. I also think Ruiz doesn't get the credit he deserves for what he's accomplished due to his horrible style. That said, this thread is a joke. That Ruiz is undervalued does NOT imply he has more to show than a guy that dominated his weight class for 10+ years.

And yes, I think JC has HUGE holes in his resume, but so does Ruiz... no Lewis, no Klits - these were the best in his era and he's missing them. No Tyson, no Brewster, no Rahman, no Peter... and they aren't the best, just top 10's he's missing. There's no Kessler equivalent in Ruiz's resume. And there sure as **** isn't a Danell Nicholson or Sergei Kobozev loss equivalent on JC's!! No offense to those guys, they're competant pro boxers, but he LOST to them and they're no better than opponents like Manfredo that JC was ripped for fighting.

I've given this too much effort as is. This thread is a joke.

anyone that says reid, woodhall and sheika are nobodies need there head examined. all three were class acts. Eubank was not shot to pieces, he went on to give carl thompson hell at cruiserweight. Hopkins may be old but you as Pavlik if that means anything? I'd love it if RJJ fought someone with a name next and tore strips off them!

John Ruiz's best win was over an old Holyfield. He has lost 8 times. Including loses to Valuev (twice) who is widely regard as the worst World Champion ever.

How can you describe Byron Mitchell, a two time WBA Super middleweight Champion as 'a nobody'. The fact you even made this thread suggests you're an idiot, that comment proves it. Ritchie Woodhall was a domestic, European and WBA World Champion, again, you dismiss him as 'a nobody', you say the same thing about Robin Ried - a WBC World Champion (do you actually watch boxing?) Bernard Hopkins was 'a ****ing old man', who recently schooled Kelly Pavlik. Hindsight is a great attribute to have, because at the time Lacy was the 'next big thing' and an World Title holder, Bika was a ranked top ten super-middleweight contender, Kessler was prime, Jones was shot and Eubank was a very good win consider Calzaghe was right at the start of his career. Sheika and Brewer were also good, credible wins for Calzaghe.

Overall, Joe Calzaghe has an ok resume, nothing special. But the fact is, Calzaghe is the best super-middleweight ever, he unified the division, beat every belt holder, moved up a weight and beat 'the man' at light-heavyweight. He is also a 46-0, ten year, undefeated, world champion.

So what, in your ****ed up, crazy, delusional mind makes you think for a second that John Ruiz has a better legacy than Joe Calzaghe?

Uhmm, He actually BEAT Rahman. (fail)
Lewis wouldn't fight him and he dropped one of his belts because he wouldn't. (fail again)
Brewster was a SMW-LW (fail once more)
And the Klits won't fight him (fail on all counts)

Bottomline, he has fought all the best comp in his weight class that will fight him.

    Jimmy Thunder
    James Toney
    Toney Tucker
    Evander Holyfeld
    Kirk Johnson
    Hasim Rahman
    Fres Oquendo
    Andrew Golota
    James McCline

    W on all those fights.

yeah, he has some loses but he took those fighting the best in his weight class, you can't say the same for Joe.
