This is a topic that many people debate about. Who has left the bigger mark on boxing and whos legacy is greater. In my opinion, it's Pacquiao, he is an 8 division champion, never stood down from a fight, got robbed and took revenge, probably the quickest and most devestating puncher of all time, He lost to Floyd when Pacman was past his best, his offensive explosive style ages a lot quicker than Floyds defensive style Floyd on the other hand, got 2 gift decisions in his career, avoided Pacquiao for many years, didn't take every fight like Manny did. Overall both are incredible boxers but I think Manny leaves a greater mark on boxing and his legacy is superior. Mainly due to how incredible his climb through weight classes was and how he just bested Thurman at nearly 41
No way is Pac even near the most destructive boxer of all time in terms of power Azumah Nelson and Naseem Hamed punched harder than any featherweights in history and Pac beat Barrera at feather proving he could beat Naz but not punch harder, no way could Barrera take the amount of punches he took off Pac for the same amount of rounds as it took in that fight. Maybe you mean Pac`s speed and ability punching from southpaw angles meant more accurate punches would be landed meaning he could finish a hurt opponent better than anyone, he may have been the greatest swarmer rather than one punch KO artist, but then you`d have to look at Tommy Hearns because Pac fought at welter and watch what Hearns did to welters and the ever tough Duran who was around the same height as Pac, that was like the KO against Hatton but Duran was far tougher than Hatton Floyd did the same thing to Hatton and set the punch up better than Pac did in an underrated win. I feel Canelo was green and fought the wrong fight against Floyd for 7 rounds but still did stuff that really would have bothered the best opponents on Pac`s resume and Pac has never dominated a top fighter like Canelo the way Floyd did in that fight, looking at how brilliant Canelo is now it makes Floyd`s win more impressive, for me Canelo is a far superior fighter to Pac and all his opponents except JMM and we know what happened there and Floyd did easily beat JMM even though that was mainly because of Floyd`s longer reach it was still an awesome display, I feel Pac while being a great offensive wasn`t the total package and had defensive weakness`s that showed up against his best opponents to varying degrees whereas Floyd dominated everyone he except Castillo, De La Hoya did what he did but once Floyd worked him out he took over that fight and would cleaned up easier in a rematch such was the case with Madaina another better than anyone Pac only based on how he fought Floyd which was really smart.
Who? But in all seriousness, I think they both left their respective marks in the sport and shouldn't be pitted against each other. Especially now that a new era is beginning without these 2...
Pbf had arguably the greatest career in the history of the sport. 50-0 undefeated in 3 different decades lineal in 4 different weight class while being simultaneously lineal in 2. Never knocked down only lost a handful of rounds in his prime made more money than any boxer in history was the face of boxing since 2007 until now. Not to mention beat pac h2h and tooled the man that put him in a coma it's pbf hands down and historically he will be rated as such.
The Problem here is that Pac did it to himself.. Shortly after 2011, Pac completely loses focus on Boxing. He joins the government and becomes a senator, he starts partying hard, loses millions in gambling, loses millions in bad business ventures, borrows tons of money from Bob Arum, and I can go on and on .. Once boxing is no more a priority in his life, good luck in trying to maintain fighter of the decade status and being the best in the world.. So the answer is Floyd, but man it could have been a hell of a lot different..
