One man took on one of the top 50 (top 20 in my book) ATG in boxing history as a 30-1 underdog, while he was undefeated and in his PRIME. Mike Tyson was the most FEARED man in boxing and the WORLD, and he KNOCKED HIM OUT. Douglas pulled off one of the greatest upsets in boxing HISTORY, which became the blueprint for future Tyson opponents Holyfeld and Lennox Lewis. He made a lasting impression on boxing to this day.

Calzaghe is undefeated, his biggest win is against Mikkel Kessler, he held the WBO for 10 years fighting mediocre to weak competirion his entire career. And when he did take on a "name" fighter they were shot and the wins were questionable, at best.

    Who has the greater legacy?

Calzaghe doesn't really have a legacy, he didn't fight any decent americans in thier primes. That is unforgivable

It's a fair comparison/question. One guy fought bums and shot fighters his entire career and held the belt for ten years doing that.

The other guy took one not only the best, but the GREATEST fighter of an entire ERA and KNOCKED HIM OUT! He only had one title defense, but the victory over Mike Tyson still gets talked about today like it was yesterday. Thinks about it. That was in 1990 almost 20 years ago.

Can you imagine Joe and Buster having coffee trading war stories, Buster talking about the time he KO'd Mike Tyson, and all Joe can bring up is Kessler?

    It doesn't stand up.

    :good:rofl

One of the best statements in recent memory. I blame Jeff Lacy for this bull****. If he wasn't stupid enough to go to the u.k, Calzaghe would be having his trilogy with Mario Veit.

You got to be kidding me?

So you think 3 shot fighters add up to one PRIME Mike Tyson?

And give me a break with the Lacy "next Mike Tyson" crap! Everyone knows Lacy was as much "the next Mike Tyson" as "Mission Accomplished" was in Iraq.

You comparing Lacy and Kessler to Holyfeld and Tyson?:rofl

Jesus! How much **** did you smoke?!!!

Buster made HISTORY! Nobody is going to even TRY to remember Calzaghe after he retires, much less be able think of ANYTHING he accomplished.

Calzaghe will be a nice footnote in history, but he's gonna fade away. Noone is going to talk about any of his lame victories in years to come.

Buster's amazing performance in Japan is going to be on documentaries/shows/magazines even 100 years+ from now. 100 years from now, noone will know, or give a **** about, this Calzaghe guy who was apparantly popular in some circles way back when..

Good lord.. are people still bringing up the Lacy fight? If people called Sakio Bika the next Nigel Benn would people be overhyping that win, too? Yes it was impressive that Calzaghe outclassed Lacy in such a way, but what did you expect from a fighter of Calzaghe's calibur against a fighter that I would barely give a B grade on in skill? This is the same Lacy that struggled against fighters past their best such as Robin Reid, Syd Vanderpool and Omar Sheika.

Buster's win over Tyson obliterates anything Calzaghe has accomplished.. no matter how much anyone wants to overhype the Kessler win.

Note that Lacy is referred to as someone who was "SUPPOSED to be the next Tyson.." - which means he WASN'T the next Tyson. Tyson, however, WAS Tyson. :blood

this is a joke, right?? One fight does not a legacy make. It isn't even a subject worth debating - Calzaghe and by a MILE.
