I think it's a fair question. Anyone that beats Sugar is there or thereabouts.

Put it this way - how many of Bernards wins is Turpin's victory over Sugar alone, worth? A few. And he was not to bad besides.

Having said all that, my answer is "Hopkins". Great fighter.

Randy's win over Robinson obliterates anything Hopkins has accomplished.

Actually, now that I think about it, you're right. Hopkins really wasn't anything great. Just goes to show how shitty Calzaghe is, that that is his second best win, over an old, overrated bum.

Don't forget how far he extended the great man in the second fight, too.

its true that randy turpin's win over SRR is the best win between anything the two of them had done but SRR wasn't as brilliant and dominant as he was welterweight (thought still excellent) and he was fairly inconsistent at middleweight.

Beating Sugar is tough, but Bernard is just better. period. again.

maybe turpin? had he been in another era he probably could have dominated the way hopkins did? anyways looked up his record. 2 months after his first fight against robinson they fought again. they were tough back then.

Can you imagine Randy and Bernard having coffee trading war stories, Randy talking about the time he beat Sugar Ray Robinson, and all Hopkins can bring up is a welterweight called Tito?

    It doesn't stand up.

    Remind you of anything?

Hopkins and by quite a margin. He is one of the best middles of all time aswel as light heavy success.

In Don Cockell (who would later give Marciano an awkward night) Turpin beat a LHW I would pick to beat anyone Hopkins has done at the weight.
