After the absolute ding dong battle that was Froch v Pascal, I became a huge Froch fan and loved his never say die attitude and desire to win that saw him through to victory against Taylor and hanging on in there when Groves battered him with everything but the kitchen sink in their first fight.

For someone who was relatively limited boxing skill wise, especially when compared to Kovalev and to a lesser extent Kessler, he certainly made up for those relative deficiencies through sheer guts and determination.

In spite of that though, I have to go with Kovalev as having the better resume and boxing legacy. He should be 1 and 1 with Ward who is the best SMW since Calzaghe and arguably the best SMW ever, he avenged a crushing KO defeat in some style against Alvarez, brutalised Pascal twice, humiliated Cleverley in his first world title challenge and Krushed a whole slew of well ranked and respected title challengers and former titleists.

I would still rather watch a rerun of a Froch fight over any of Kovalevs fights as barring a few exceptions, Kovalev made short work of the majority of his opponents, whereas Froch really had to work hard for many of his wins and again, that's why Kovalev has the better resume and legacy, although Froch will always be a real favourite of mine, an absolute balls to the wall warrior.

You should have done a poll @CST80. Seems opinions are well divided on this one

90% on here don't even know Kesslers full career yet still post their opinions without a clue
CST80 normally a decent mod needs to be pulled up a lot on this subject

A good example of some of the issues I have with this thread

    Edit
I would add that I do think the fight rating should be taken at the time of the fight
For example at SMW, I feel Frochs win over undefeated Bute is far greater than Frochs win over undefeated Pascal at SMW as Pascal hadn't looked as good at SMW and Bute had form at that weight.
I know Pascal beat Bute at lhw but that is a completely different weight and sometimes like with Bute a fighter sometimes doesn't seem the same when the 0 has gone.
In this case after the Froch loss butes record wouldn't look as good as Pascal's after the Froch loss but I rate the Bute win higher for Froch due to how the respective fighters were at the weight, where they were in their careers.
If you know what I mean

    Kovalev easily

    Kessler is a footnote

Froch's record can be picked apart very easily

Froch and Kessler were never KRUSHERs

They didn't have that scary vibe to them despite how good they were, never p4p destroyers.

    @CST80

Also its Mikkel Kickel Kessler. That's why they called him MKK in his early career.

Froch, easily. The problem with OP is he takes the manner of the wins into his judgement, not the names in themselves. I also think Kovalev clearly lost to Ward twice, he fought Hopkins well past his best, fought Pascal past his best. Alvarez isn’t a good win, and he got stopped by that guy first up. Kovalev has nothing else on his resume. The rating of the victories I disagree with for the most part.

This thread should be simple, a list of names. Froch takes it easily, and I’m not a fan of the guy.
