Are you really bringing a boxing fight to a MMA forum as an exemple ? Kinda lame IMO since it's 2 completly different sport and both of them are judge completly differently. Yes and so ****in what ? Who cares if you can take somebody down if you can't swtich stance, do dammage or sub him. He didn't dominate him, he took him down and got is face beat down into oblivion. King Mo deserve an award because he took someone down and hold him there for ****in 25 min ?
The point is one fighter is dominating the fight. I just used shane-floyd round 2 as an example. Takedown is a big part of MMA. It helps you get the W. GSP-Penn 1 was close but gsp secured the W when he took penn down in the 3rd round and control him on the ground. Vitor-Tito Ortiz was a close fight too until tito ortiz took vitor down in the 3rd round to win the round and the fight. Mousasi is a great fighter but he needs to work on his takedown or KING MO WILL WHOOP HIS ASS AGAIN:good:good
I understand why you say that but I just can't agree with you. If you look at GSP VS Penn, the GSP performance is light years ahead of King Mo against Moussassi. With GSP we can call that dominance, but with King Mo it's called stalling a fight. Moussassi is gonna kill King Mo in a rematch I'm pretty sure of it and I will continu to say that if that fight took place in japan Moussassi would have won !
takedowns shouldnt be as big a part of mma scoring. who would you rather be in a fight, the guy being controled great wrestling, or the guy who takes more damage. I always thought the point of a fight was to dish out damage not control which seems to have run a muck on judges scorecards in this side of the globe. as for your analogy of maywether vs mosley. mayweather dished out far more damage in that fight. Mosley only hurt maywether in the 2nd round while it was big it was still one round. mayweather had mosley hurt in their fight a few times, and landed far more accurate blows he didnt simply outmanoeuvre mosley with speed and clinching as you make the fight seem like mayweather was engaging his opponent. mousasi landed the more telling blows throughout the fight with king mo. He made the mistake of being on his back the entire match and having to resort to upkicks and punches from his back to try and win the fight. If they rematch it wont come down to that, mousasi is a smart fighter, I believe he will be far more prepared for king mo than he was that fight, he will beat the limited fighter with his diversity and much superior striking.
Mousasi seemed to be relying on another upkick knockout in that fight. He is always a very calm fighter, but he seemed far too calm and passive in that one.
nick diaz, he outclassed kj noons from the 3rd round on in his last fight. Zaromskis hurt diaz but he came back to tko Marius. I didnt think diaz would win that way in either fight, and to be honest I thought kj would beat diaz turned out I underestimated nicks striking it seems to be better than the last time kj and he fought.
9 ko's and 16 subs equal an all rounder HOWEVER think about a fight like Sylvia. The punch took it to the ground but he won by sub.
he has improved alot. he used to be a **** amateur boxing running around. now he has begun to stand his ground and put some meat on his shots. i don't think he'll ever hit like a truck but he has done much better.
Gonna reel off some names and reasons why , feel free to comment gents : This content is protected , boxing vastly underated , has that awkward style which makes him look ugly , pin point accurate jabs and very good reflexes defensively , uses his length well to very good effect . Mousasi was completley dominated by Lawal !!! Take downs are scored in MMA so highly because it takes a lot more physical effort to shoot in and take a man to the ground than it does to stand there and land a strike (punch , kick or elbow) , then if you stay on top of your opponent thats where the points pile up , if you show superior wrestling to your opponent that is what gains you the points , this is MMA not jui jitsu , the only way you can score from the bottom is by cutting your opponent (more likely with elbows) , submission attempts (as in submissions that very nearly come off ) or up kicks , now if you do one of the above but then your opponent replys with a flurry of 4 or 5 shots from the top he wins that exchange because he is a) controlling you and b) landing shots simultaneously !!!! In an MMA fight , lets just say this , if ive been on my back for 5 rounds , i know i aint getting the decision , thats the man i wouldnt like to be :deal You dont win fights with up kicks and elbows from the bottom unless you sweep your opponent and get to your feet , there was no excuse for the ease Mousasi was being taken down , could you imagine what a wrestler / striker like Rashad Evans would of done to him that night ???? If Mousasi keeps the fight standing , he wins the fight , but he's got a long way to go after the first fight , and some serious TD defence technique to drill !!!
Most of the damage done to Lawal's face was done in the 2nd round, a round that I scored for Mousasi. That's the only round I scored for him. The rest of that fight belonged to King Mo, who landed the heavier shots standing in that fight too.
I haven't watched the fight since it happened, but I don't recall Mo landing anything big while standing. I recall Mousasi blocking pretty much everything with his forearms.
And me I remember Mo taking Moussassi down....and holding him there in hope of not getting sub from Moussassi back...he stalled the fight, plain and simple. But I guess this is what the judge want to see...
