Who has the power edge in Cotto vs Margarito?

I'd say Mosley and Margarito have compareable power. I don't think Judah is on either of their levels. Cotto imo showed more concern over Mosley's punching power than he did Judah's. Judah can stun a guy because of his speed but the longterm damage isn't the same. Cotto probably realized that as Judah began to get tired later on.

The one big distinction between Cotto and Clottey is that Cotto has knockout power. Clottey really doesn't. But Clottey is very accurate. If Clottey had Cotto's power I think he would be a monster at welterweight.

Another distinction is that Clottey imo is very durable and defensively better than Cotto. He may also be a little faster too.

 

Thats how I look at it too. I'd say 4 rounds tops.

If you're evaluating who performs better at dishing out pain over the course of a fight I'd have to go with Margarito and Mosley over Judah.

But if you take Judah's counter left uppercut all by itself, that punch can generate WAY more damage than anything that Margarito or Mosley can throw presently.

Zab Judah is a pretty much gun shy fighter until he gets you hurt with his counter left, then he explodes all over you. Zab Judah hurt Cotto many more times than Mosley did in their fight. And I expect that to be the same in comparing Cottos Judah fight with the Margarito fight.

 

margarito has harder one punch power, cotto is better at literally everything else and wears down margo in their fight

Yea right?! The classic front runner in Clottey that almost always gasses out midway through a fight would definitely knock out Cotto! Not that Cotto doesn't have a sinister body attack style that wouldn't further instigate a front runner like Clottey to gas out even sooner. lol

Clottey would get tired even quicker with Cotto, And his only chance would be to open up in the second half of the fight and get reckless. At this point he gets beat the hell down and gets his cheekbones rearranged.

 

He's always been a respectable poster. I have no bad feelings towards the guy, but I can't understand where he's coming from on this one. Clottey KO Cotto? Mosley and Judah stood a better chance of KOing Cotto. Clottey performs better in the first half of the fight and tends to get pretty tired. I see his turtle shell defensive posture being his downfall as Cotto would outwork him and land accurate shots to the ribcage.

I agree they both have powers. People are not writting off Margo's power they are probably just more impressed by their fight results. Cotto has make more opponents submit due to punishments.
