Yeah, I would have him at 1 or 2, but you're right...he's slipping a bit.

I would say Rafael Marquez hands down. His defense and chin is his only weakness. His offensive attack is p4p the best by WIDE. He can throw any and every punch effectively with accuracy and power. From his sweet powerful jab to his left hook to his uppercuts with either hand or his str8 right. COMPLETE.

No brainer PBF should be the man.

Best offense? :D That doesn't necessarily mean figuring out in a bloody punch fest. It means the ability to win fights scientifically. Dishing out effective punches to win fights.

Thats a good explanation. However if we were to put simply how to separate the 2, I would say that offense is the ability to hurt your opponent and defense is the ability not to get hurt. In that sense, speed, power, timing, combinations, accuracy, output would all be for good offense. Footwork, head movement, slipping, shoulder rolls, parry's, block, reflexes etc would all be for defense.

So to sum it up, guys like Cotto, Pavlik & Pac would probably go down for great offense as they win by being on the offensive and using their offensive skills. Whereas Floyd, Winky would go down for defense as they win more often using their defensive skills rather than offensive.

If that's the case then Valero should be on top.

    22 fights . . . 22 KO's. :think

But his offense is not tested against elite competition. Pac was already tested against HOFamer & he has to moved up in weight to to Prove it.

Against whom? Pac has KO'd something like 20 out of 23 of his last opponents and hes ben fighting at the world level. KD the 3 mexican greats a total of 10 times also counts for something.

Measuring by offensive skills such as power, speed, accuracy, output, timing, combination and technique. Pac would beat him in all aspects except perhaps output & power where it may be a draw. Pac has more speed, has better combinations, better technique etc. But all this are just someones opinion of course of watching videos rather than facts....

When guys like Valero & Pacman win, they win by overwhelming their opponents with their offensive moves. Putting a hurting on them. Guys like PBF win by not getting hurt.

Its like a football match where one team wins by scores of 8-6 and another wins by 1-0. The latter won by defense, they let in 0 goals but only scored 1...however they still win. The other wins by great offense, they managed to score 8 although they let in 6. Just as Pac will win by landing 300punches on opponents and taking 250 but win by KO and PBF will land 100punches but only get hit 20. Both won but 1 won by offensive tactics, the other by being defensive.

All these best offense is a good defense is just confusing people. The 2 mix well in the fight such as counterpunch is a mixture of defense/offense however the 2 can be separated quite easily. The slipping and parrying of the punch which requires reflexes would go down as defense, the counterpunch that follows that requires speed, power, timing and accuracy goes down as offense.

There's very few in history can even Match Pac's combination of speed & Power P4P. Tyson, Hearns, SRL are just the few I can mentioned. How about relentless pressure for 12 rds?? AAron Pryor... anybody else???

Pac was categorized as one dimensional & he already accomplished a lot. He's just beginning to add some dimension to his game, just like the outboxing of MAB(although I still prefer the old style Pac). He's about to show more in his coming bouts at 135. What if he Knockouts all the 135 Title holders??? I guess no more debate after that.

    Good analogy!!:good

I will compare it to basketball.

I compare Pac's offense to the Magic Johnson's Lakers era where they wins by pure offense. Also the jordan's Bulls where they go to the Finals & win by a Sweep or 4-1 series. They dominate.

Floyd & Whitaker style is just like Detriot & San antonio Spurs Championship run. They win in Close points but still dominates by defense. But the TV ratings is the lowest in History.
