It might be this time of year to bump those old pac threads from before the hoya fight about him fighting cotto/marg/oscar/hatton etc.
Where everyone beside pacdbest thought he would need a miracle to win against those guys, same people are now downplaying everything with alts like pac cherrypicked a weightdrained oscar:lol:

those who were predicting that oscar, cotto and hatton would destroy pacquiao have quit ESB or changed handle already to avoid being branded a hypocrite if they criticize pac's resume and opposition now.

yes, but anyone that is fairly judging all these boxers would say its between Pac and Whitaker who you have ahead, also take nostalgia in the consideration.
Lennox lewis was hated on a lot back in the day, I remember that, they would call him boring often and a glass chin joke that would be taken out by foreman.
But nowadays heavyweight division has declined so much that lennox rating increased a lot, same thing happened to larry holmes.
I think Pacs legacy will be rated fairly in 10/15 years when everyone is retired.
Same for guys like wlad and bernard hopkins or the mexican 3.

Not really, it all depends on the era immediately following.

Lennox Lewis was a very very rare case in that he became appreciated almost RIGHT OUT OF RETIREMENT. Lewis is not even that old, he's 45ish. He retired in 2003, by 2006 people were ranking him as a Top 10 ATG HW. That have never happened before.
Larry Holmes- a fighter arguably just as high on the ATG list as Lewis took at least 20 years to get his credit and his just dues. 20 years.
Lennox was able to gain the fruits of his labors within 3-5 years out of retirement in terms of legacy status, because right after him people thought the heavyweight division gone to ****. So it made Lewis look really good right away.

Larry Holmes never got that advantage, because right after Larry Holmes came Mike Tyson. So nobody remembered Holmes, everybody got on Tyson.
In other words, if Lewis had retired, but an ALI came along in 2005 nobody will be remembering Lewis for at least 20 years.

Now in terms of PACQUAIO and Wladimir. Nobody give a **** what ESB thinks, the vast majority of boxing critics and writers already got Wladimir ranked as a top15 ATG Heavyweight well on his way to the top 10.

The vast majority of boxing critics and writers already got Pacquaio ranked very very high. These two guys don't need to wait '15' years for their rightful place, they already got it.

I think you are using ESB Posts as a gauge for 'appreciation', guys like Hopkins-Pacquaio-Wladimir is already acknowledged by most boxing circles as ATG'S.

Legacy don't always enhance with time.
    Look at Rocky Marciano.
Rocky Marciano's reign is now regarded as incredibly weak and he's now known more for his heart and his never say die personality.

Look at Roy Jones Jr. Every day his legacy falls a bit further.

Come on be honest, if Roy had retired after Ruiz you ****ers would be rating him as a top 20 ATG

You are confusing a few things here.
Lewis was hated on by boxing critics and writers during his time.
Pacquaio is being hated on being forum posters..... There is a huge difference.

Most boxing critics rate Pacquaio quite high, Lennox was hated during his time because of certain bias issues.

Pacquaio is getting a lot more credit during his career than Lewis did.

So saying 'Oh Pac will become appreciated WHEN HE RETIRES' is stupid. HE IS BEING APPRECIATED NOW. Guys who's not appreciated during the times they fought were like Holmes,Lewis, etc.

Not worth it to bump the older threads, either way some people will always discredit Pac, Numbers don't lie Pacquiao has the most votes in this thread.
    Just Deal with it.

If people think that ESB users are blind, how about the votes that other Boxers get in the other threads?

Against Jose Luis Ramirez (travesty) and Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr. Some felt he did enough to beat Oscar De La Hoya. Trinidad administered a proper beating on a well past it Pernell, who really showed his true toughness after years of being virtually unhittable.
