Old Mercer almost beat the very best version of Lewis.
If it had been prime Tyson in there, Lewis would of left the ring in a body bag.

Again you haven't read my post properly.

You are using the words duck, and ducking.

If Lennox felt he could no longer perform to his usual high standard, and decided to call it a day, is that ducking? No it was a smart decision.

All I'm pointing out, is that if you go on the free library online, there's various links of Lewis saying Roy would be easy.

But around Sept, he decided to retire.

The Vitali fight changed his views.

After Vitali, he was up for a rematch at first, but after a month or so, he knew it was time to let go.

Am I saying he was scared of Vitali and Roy? Of course I'm ****ing not.

I've never said ever that Roy could beat a prime Lewis.

You're right in what you said about Roy saying Lewis was too big.

He did say that on more than a few occasions.

After Ruiz, the media asked him about fighting Lennox, and he admitted it was a step too far because he was too big.

But he was ringside for the Vitali fight, and when he saw Lewis out of shape and struggling, it gave him a huge confidence boost.

Read the link with Murad Muhammad. He told Murad he'd seen things that he could exploit.

So again, nobody is saying Lennox ducked, and nobody is saying that Roy desperately chased him, but after the Vitali fight, Roy was open to it.

Roy did approach him, before he signed to fight Tarver. Roy and Lennox had a huge amount of respect for each other. Lennox said he was putting his feet up, and Roy wished him well.

So please stop twisting my words.

A prime Lewis definitely would have beaten Roy, there's no doubt whatsoever.

But are you going to tell me that the Ruiz version of Roy wouldn't have had a CHANCE of beating that old, out of shape version that Vitali fought?

Are you saying Roy would have had ZERO chance?

I think Roy would have had a slight chance against THAT version.

Pacquiao. Mayweather is close by, but he didn't fight Morales and Barrera two ATGs.

The Levin's didn't want to deal with King.

Lets look at things logically here.

In 1995, Roy was at his absolute peak at 26, and he didn't fancy facing Nigel because he was a puncher.

    If that was true,

Then what the **** was he doing at HEAVYWEIGHT fighting a ranked guy, who weighed over 16 stone, who'd knocked Holy down, when he was 34, and he'd had nearly 50 fights?????

He was desperate for a Tyson fight in 2003, and even left his Ruiz weight on for a while in the hope of landing it.

So, he was terrified of Benn at 168, at 26, yet at nearly 35, he was desperate for Tyson.

Look, a guy who's a natural 175 fighter, who doesn't want to fight punchers, DOES NOT move to heavy in his mid 30's!!

    This can't be argued Loudon..

It is easy for people to sit back 10 years later, knowing what has happened in those 10 years, and say Roy had zero chance...

But after Lewis looked vulnerable in the fight with Vitali, Roy still had that invincible aura surrounding him after beating Ruiz.. People actually gave Roy a chance, sure he would still be the underdog, and probably would have lost when you look back, but at the time, many people were thinking "what if?" including Roy... Including myself...

And anyone that actually holds it against Roy for fighting Ruiz in his first HW outing instead of Lewis is a hater...

This wasn't a 195 lb Jim Corbett, this was ****ing Lennox Lewis, and ATG H2H beast, and Roy was a former 154 pound fighter.. Get a grip!

Roy Jones was more than "very good" He was the special once in a generation fighter, you can quarrel over his resume all you want, but no one can deny he had those once in a lifetime skills.. Lennox is not comparable to Roy Jones in that sense. Sorry man.

And if you think prime Roy only beats prime Joe 4 out of 10 times, then you obviously don't like him, you are not fooling anyone. The best version of Calzaghe has zero chance against prime Roy.. Zero...
