The fight would have been at a catchweight, but there was no serious talks because Bernard wouldn't take the 40.

Also, we've seen that Bernard is comfortable at 175.

    Ducktali,

    WTF?

A guy who avoids punchers in his OWN weight class out of FEAR, WOULD NEVER go up and fight heavyweights in his mid 30's. It's absurd!

Benn was a King fighter, and the fight was hard to make.

I've told you repeatedly that Roy missed all of the big names at 160, because he was fighting nobodies (apart from Castro)

Roy and Gerald missed each other at 160, and Gerald only had the one fight at 168 against Benn.

It wasn't as straight forward as that. Mike was in a real mess, both financially and with his contract.

I've heard Shelly Finkle say that a contractual dispute prevented the fight from happening, and I've heard two accounts from Murad Muhammad.

    Here's one of them.

Yes he did. He even left his Ruiz weigh on in the hope of fighting him. That's why he struggled so badly to take off the weight, because it was done in a hurry to get back to 175 for Tarver.

Irrelevant. It wouldn't have been the version of Roy that fought Glen Johnson.

    1- Tyson didn't avoid him.

2- Roy beat better fighters than Benn, and eventually moved up to heavy in his mid 30's. Of course he'd have respected Benn, but you're implying that he was scared.

3- Do some research. Lewis thought Roy would be easy work for huge money, then decided to retire after Vitali, when the fight with Roy was viable. Those are the facts. Lenno must have had some reservations, otherwise he'd have fought on.

    A 50-50 chance?

He struggled with Reid, Bika and Kessler, and was always relatively easy to hit, yet it would have been 50-50 to beat a 25 year old version of Roy?

It's pointless debating about the outcome anyway, because Joe would NEVER have fought Roy at his peak.

Do you seriously think he was injured 3 times for Glen Johnson?

He nearly pulled out of the Lacy fight, until Frank W and Enzo talked him out of it, and he wasn't injured, it was a psychological problem. A guy with that mindset wasn't going to fight Roy.

We've also seen all of the quotes, such as:

"Roy Jones is a good fighter, and I don't want tough fights"

"I think I could give Roy Jones a tough fight, but I know what my CAPABILITIES are."

Roy started out at 154, and won a version of the heavyweight title. He also won belts in 4 different weight classes, and he's still fighting cruisers now in his mid 40's. You are being disrespectful to say he wasn't a risk taker. EVERY fighter takes a certain amount of risk.

Roy accomplished something that hadn't been done in 106 years. Let's see who out of the super six will go up to heavy.

Roy didn't want to go to Germany because he'd been scarred by the Olympics in 88, and Germany was notorious for awful decisions. (Look at Reid's fight with Ottke as an example)

"I don't think a knockout would be enough to win over there!" -Roy Jones 2001.

Are you aware that Brad Jacobs and Kerry Davis - VP of HBO tried to make the fight several times, but DM's manager wasn't interested?

HBO wanted to showcase Dariusz to the U.S. fans, by hosting a double header to promote the fight. DM wasn't interested.

Murad Muhammad said he wanted $6m for the fight, and was making between $1-1.5m for each defence in Germany.

According to Roy, HBO actually offered him $5m in the end, and it was turned down.

I've got a whole page of links and videos.

    Ducktali,

    And?

I don't think it was as a high as 220, and according to his manager Jackie Kallen, Toney was more than confident going into the fight.

Why didn't the biggest mouth in boxing say he'd like a rematch somewhere down the line?

    Strange.

Eubank DID NOT WANT TO FIGHT ROY!

Liles and Benn were King fighters, and King wanted options. Roy handlers - The Levin Brothers, did not want to deal with King. It's called boxing politics.

It was no great loss Roy not fighting Collins. Roy went up to 175 for a new challenge.

I agree that Roy should definitely have fought Nunn at 175 when he was mandatory.

    What career high pay day?

The size of the actual crowd is irrelevant. The money comes from the promotion and PPV.

Calzaghe fought Kessler in front of 50,000 in 2007.

In the same year, Oscar fought Floyd in front of 16,000.

Oscar's fight was the biggest grossing fight of all time, grossing $120m.

    Lewis

Avenged every loss didn't duck anyone, some would say prime tyson but Lewis only really appeared on the scene after Tyson got sent down am sure Lewis would have faced Tyson and beaten him around 93 onwards. He finished his career with a W over the next dominant heavyweight.

No CATCHWEIGHTS no fighting people past their best (apart from Tyson) and in an era with better dope testing.

Cant really argue with that and to top it off beats Holyfield twice.
