    general zod,

I'm talking about directly after the fight, in the post fight interview.

Why would Roy have wanted to fight him again?

In a previous post, you mentioned that Roy wouldn't fight Liles.

My point to Ducktali was that Roy didn't duck Liles and the other fighters he mentioned, and Liles and Benn were King fighters, and they were hard to make fights, because the Levin's didn't want to deal with King.

We also know that they were Benn negotiations too, but Roy and both Levin brothers were very wary of Don.

Maybe I should have said the Levin's didn't really want to deal with King. I should have worded it better.

    general zod,

He did say that, but that's just one quote from the first article from 2003, just after Roy's fight with Ruiz. Shelly said there was nothing happening at that point.

But we know from the second article from 2003, that Shelly contacted Murad to discuss a potential fight.

Then the 2004 article states that the fight was never done in 2003, because of Mike's lack of desire to fight after Etienne.

It also states that Shelly said $30m would probably tempt Roy back to heavy.

So although Shelly did make that comment regarding Roy, he clearly wanted to make the fight afterwards.

We know that Tarver spoilt the party.

Regarding Roy wanting $100m, that's obviously crazy, but I've never seen a direct quote from Roy and what the details were.

Although the fight would have been a bit of a freak show, I believe it would have been one of the biggest grossing fights of all time. So there was potentially millions on offer.

According to Murad, two fights were mentioned, and Roy and Mike both spoke to each other on the phone.

Around the same time, I also believe that Mike was in a huge legal battle with King.

Like I said previously, I did here a long time ago Shelly saying that a contractual dispute stopped the fight from happening.

If Roy had have fought Mike late 2003 instead of going back down for Tarver, what do you think would have happened?

It's nice to see you back on the forum.

    Make the question:

Why do you pick your chosen fighter over Whitaker's resume?

Had he won all his fights, I think Duran would be a lock at #1. Wins over SRL, Hearns, Benitez and Hager, would easily beat anything Oscar did, especially if he had mulitple wins over SRL.

Oscar De La Hoya has the greatest opposition of all time. He faced all the greatest, at their primes, and his very existence makes this thread unnecessary.

I was thinking of him. Don't really see how Lewis has so many votes either.

    Oscar has a monstrous resume.
Wins over Trinidad, Steroided Mosley, Quartey, Steroided Vargas, Whitaker by 1 point IMO

    Oscar's 'official' losses:
    1. Felix Trinidad - Everyone who watched this knows this is a robbery where Oscar landed 150 punches more than Felix. Felix is an ATG and it's a better win than any on Mayweather's career for example.

    2. Mosley 1 - Legit loss, but Mosley was probably roiding. After all, Mosley got busted in their rematch for roids. So although we say it's legit..just how legit is this loss, really?

    3. Mosley 2 - Mosley was roided for this fight which makes it even harder for Oscar. Oscar won this fight, it was a clear robbery.

    4. Mayweather - Oscar was past it. The majority of people on this forum have a Prime Oscar beating Mayweather.

    5. Pacquiao - That loss doesn't count. Oscar was dead RIP entering that fight.

    6. Bernard Hopkins - Oscar was past prime at this point and no one had Oscar winning this fight as Hopkins was way too big.

    So looking at Oscar's wins...
I pick his wins over anyone on this list apart from Whitaker I guess.

So when oscar wins he is in his prime and when he loses he is out of prime? Hopkins was 39 at the time of fight and oscar was 31. Oscar was 34 at the mayweather fight when mayweather was 30. You use the Hopkins was too big excuse but what about Oscar's size advantage over pacquiao?

If oscar was messing around, partying, drinking etc thats his own fault.

Oscar lost all of his big fights, deal with it.
