One area where Tszyu has it over GGG is that he fought in Las Vegas several times during his career.

That helped when it came to fighting there later in his career.

A lot of people wouldn't remember, but Tszyu had a hard time of it early on fighting in Las Vegas.

He won his first world title there in 1995 but was docked points by Richard Steele for virtually nothing during the fight.

He then pole-axed Leonardo Mas inside of a round in 1997 & it was ruled a technical draw by Joe Cortez. It wasn't changed to no-contest until years later & was an unwelcome stain on Tszyu's record for a long time.

Those experiences didn't stop Tszyu from fighting there later on though. When it mattered at the back end of his career against the likes of Zab Judah & Sharmba Mitchell, Tszyu got a fair shake.

I think partly b/c the Nevada commission were aware that he was more than willing to take fights there. The Zab Judah unification fight was supposed to take place at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Tszyu pushed hard for it to be in Las Vegas.

Prior to his fights with Canelo, GGG had never fought in Nevada previously. It hasn't helped him, put it that way.

GGG got the "Animal House Treatment" from "Las Vegas":

Delta House Frat Rats, after frapping up Flounder's brother's car:
"Flounder, you frapped up.....you believed us."

Tszyu never tried to outbox someone on the biggest night of his life, especially knowing that the judges ripped him off the first time. Tszyu was a seek and destroy type fighter. Tszyu all the way.

This. GGG isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. The Jacobs and 1st Canelo fight should've shown him how dodgy the judges were going to be when it came to awarding him decisions. GGG had to know he wasn't getting a decision over the younger more marketable fighter.

Tszyu knew going into the Hatton fight that anything other than a knockout would be a loss, so he went for it and came up short, but at least he gave himself a chance to win.

    Tszyu's record against Mexicans:

W10 Hector Lopez (Lopez was an Olympic silver medalist & razor sharp for this one)
KO9 Rafael Rueles (brutal beat down)
KO10 Miguel Angel Gonzalez (did a better job on him than Oscar who stayed behind the jab all night)
    KO8 Ahmed Santos (one-sided drubbing)
KO6 Julio Cesar Chavez (JCC was past it but no-one ever put him down like Tszyu did in this fight)

    GGG's record against Mexicans:

    KO2 Marco Antonio Rubio
    D12 Canelo (robbery)
    L12 Canelo (close fight)

3G better resume, one more defence than kosta, or it might be 2, not sure.

KOsta has better h2h individual wins.

They might have been equal before the Canelo rivalry but going 0-1-1 (and 2-0 unofficially in most observers' eyes) against younger prime Canelo to me trumps a non-controversial loss to younger prime Hatton. :nusenuse:

Tszyu first won a world championship in January 1995. He lost the same belt in June 2005. That's a reign of 10 and a half years less the 18 months he was in the wilderness following the Vince Phillips fight.

GGG has reigned uninterrupted from August 2010 until yesterday. That's 8 years one month.
