Who here actually thinks Sam Peter is exciting?

I'm not a fan of his crude slugging, and all this talk of him refining his game and becoming a better boxer tickles me. He's merely gone from god damn awful to simply awful

He's still one of the most exciting heavies, along with Povetkin, which says something. Chagaev and Ibragimov's cautious southpaw counterpunching bores the living shite out of me. As does Wlad's jab and grab tactics

Well-- both Maskeav and Peter were slow, over weight, and not much for defense. Both looked a little tired after 5 rounds, so yeah, they had not choice but to fight!

Its not like either had Wlad's stamina, footspeed, or skills.

I think Peter is a fine addition to the heavyweight divison. He's the hope of fans who hate Wlad, but I suspect he's going to be 0-2 vs the Klitschko's before 2008 ends.

I agree, I was very angry at the weight at which Peter came in at, I was hoping to see him come in at around 240 mark, like he did for Wlad, his stamina wasnt the greatest. I do feel he has improved his head movement significantly, which will help him in future fights, though he still rather trade punches with his oppenents, than try to outbox them with his strong jab, something used well against Toney the second time.

I was very suprised when Manny said that Peters more of a powerful puncher than Wlad, I was quite shocked hearing that from him.

Manny is just tying to hype Peter up a bit so when Vitlai or Wlad fights him, it will sell better. Peter can punch. No one says he can not.

Is UNCLE MANNY only trying to hype WLAD when he compares his jab to LEWIS...???

I dont think, Manny's not like that. I rarely see him promoting other fighters outside his stable, I was expecting him to be ignorant towards Peter in his commentating, but he did a good job IMO. Another surprise was when debunked the whole rabbit punching thing, he said "Thats just the way Peter throws punches, me and Wlad never thought they were fouls", and when Maskaev was complaining about the rabbit punches during the fight, Manny said "I dont see the fouls, he's got long arms and Maskaev keeps putting his head down", Manny was in top form last night, thats for sure.

No, I´m not that excited when Peter fights, even though IMO he´s a better fighter now than before.

He´s not exciting to watch, but he´s absolutely not boring in comparison with ie Ruiz...that´s two very different things.

I guess I feel about Peter a little bit the same way I do about Toney at HW.
They don´t take it serious enough to make the best out of it.

There´s no doubt that Peter comes to fight, which is a good thing considering he´s a HW, and there´s no doubt that he punches hard, and no doubt that he´s got a sound chin...which all together should be everything you want from a fighter...but IMO he lacks the accuracy and talent to be that destroyer he´s considered to be by so many ppl.

Sure he stopped Oleg the other day, which was important to him...but that is also the one stoppage speaking for him as "the Nigerian Nightmare".

To be honest I think it´s a little bit of both.

Lennox had an extremly good jab, it was among, if not the sweetest jab I´ve seen in HW history.

Klitschko also has a very good jab, and even if it´s not as good as Lennox´s, Manny would never say that his main fighters best punch isn´t near as good as Lennox´s.

Even if it hasn´t been that many years down the road since Lennox retired, at least Klitscko´s jab is the closest to reach that quality, IMO.

    Yes

He's more exciting than Ibragimov or Chagaev. He shows heart, trys to knock people out, and gets hit - that's exciting.

Nope its Peter fault that his that bad. His performance was horrible and borderline pathetic. Iv seen stampeding wild beasts with more finesse than Peter. His awful to watch.

    Nope, it´s not anyone´s fault.

For me it´s simply that he doesn´t live up to my expectations, in ways of entertainment.

He was supposed to be this big hitter who would be the end of every other HW, according to some...

ONE stoppage against another top tier fighter is a good beginning, but that´s also the only stoppage he has.

I can see why ppl think that he´s exciting, but for me it´s not enough.
