Who here feels both "Hagler & SRL" may've been juiced in April '87?

I'm my only loyal fan. but seriously I believe some of these guys have integrity, especially hagler, because there is an ethos to believing in yourself no matter what.

These guys have dedicated their lives to believing they can be the best, and there just aren't any short cuts when you are getting hit in the face when you really really believe in yourself.

Its crazy how everybody looks much better than me! it took me years and years of fanatical self devotion to reach this fitness level, I can't imagine anybody doing it without being a narcisistic ***** like me. :deal Why be humble? Humility is a waste of time.

Hate to hijack the thread, but @aramini:

What's your daily diet/nutrition routine? Pretty impressive considering you don't even use legal supplements - which basically every athlete does.

I wont ask about your workout because I imagine I'm far lazier than you.

Also I don't put it past any top 80s fighter to have potentially used steroids, but I don't have specific suspicions.

I will pm it to you in more detail later if you have room in your inbox later today. For exercise all I care about is strength to weight ratio and maintaining speed, so its a lot of sprinting type stuff, bodyweight stuff. etc. I do lift but when I was competing I would stop lifting about two weeks before any fights, afraid of tightness and pulling my biceps, which I did in my first few college fights.

In Vegas I had a great sparring partner and we did a lot of medium contact sparring for 10-12 rounds about 3 times a week, not hard enough to take a lot of cumulative damage but enough to get sharp with the movement, blocking, reaction, etc, and that really helped to keep the weight down and lean me out, before a fight you need the hard sparring, though. A lot of interval training is just as effective as that in my opinion for your appearance, though it isn't sports specific.

heh heh yeah I agree for sure. His success at old age and fatness leads me to believe that it isn't steroids that makes a fighter great, or athleticism, but a combination of toughness, heart, relaxing in the ring, and skill and power, sometimes the athletic fighter can't handle all the dimensions a guy like even old fat duran could bring. I respect him immensely.

I bought into Hagler too, but then his ex-wife Bertha blabbed that Marvin did drink fine wine and whiffed some blow during his off time from boxing... So therefore, the "Juicing" issue has been in the back of my mind....

Leonard has already admitted to drinking wine, doing blow and getting his butt-cheeks spread wide....

I think Leonard was juicing after his first Hearns fight and after his retina problems. He looked massive and ripped like never before in his comeback fight with some journeyman named Kevin something??? Leonard in his prime, Benetiz, Duran 1 was muscular but smooth muscularity like Hagler not that popping, ripped muscularity he had during his comeback years. Marvelous Marvin Hagler had that spidery muscled look that most boxers have and he looked the same throughout his storied career so no I don't think he ever juiced. He never needed to. He was an awesome man of war and got robbed in that last fight with Leonard.

Ray was in his early 30 when he fought Haggler, and he alway has had well defined biceps. It was not until he moved to 168 against Hearns did I suspect he was taking something more then protein drinks ..

    :good

I promise to never disappoint my fans with any illegal substances. Oh ... looks like I don't have any fans.:tired

I really don't think these guys were on anything at all. Too bad about the blow though :( I really do believe in my heroes, and will continue to do so until proven otherwise. Nothing is impossible.

Take a guy like Morales. I don't think he's even that strong. What makes him great is all his other intangibles, none of which can be augmented, in my opinion, by drugs.

It just seems weird to me that all these armchair experts on roids are coming out of the woodwork, when so many fighters have been caught and it was OBVIOUS and there is no evidence to besmirch the legacy of these great fighters. Fernando Vargas never looked like he did against Oscar in his whole career before or sense. Huh, really? failed drug test?

Just because I can't do something or you can't do something doesn't mean it can't be done.
