The only problem w/ that scenario is that the UFC doesn't cherry pick who it gives title shots to. Even Lesnar had to earn his stripes. And even w/ the loss he caught along the way, if that's the biggest black mark on the match-making for championship fights, I can deal w/ that.

When's the last time someone fought for any belt in the UFC that didn't earn it over the bodies of top (sometimes, even the top) contenders?

Like I said before, if we're talking about a fantasy world where elite level pro boxing becomes just like the UFC, that would be great. It's never going to happen, but it would be ****ing awesome if it did. If boxing ever moves towards the MMA format in the real world, we would just end up with a single boxing promoter with way too much power.

How come a single MMA promoter with way too much power is ok then?

    This.

It's why the UFC is doomed.

It's a great business plan. But a lot of us like the sport, and business is always going to be more important than the sport.

Business is always going to be more important than the sport. That's nothing to do with the UFC - its to do with it being professional. The UFC has a great business model that with all the fighters under one roof is getting the most potential out of the sport.
