Pea hit the puff to much :D . I gotta say that **** really effects your boxing, mainly I found I would puff out (excuse the pun), and was less motivated....certainly not a performance enhancing drug. Ive only tried it a few times aswell.

Oh yeah, it affects your stamina moreso than anything. The main reason for the ending to my am career was my move to a different city, where there's not a boxing gym around. After the move, I stayed in shape and stayed sharp in my home gym, but eventually just floundered out after smoking too much of that ****. I still work the bag and do drills to stay sharp, but my stamina's shot.

I boxed as an amateur in both the 156 and 165 pound weight class. Had six bouts, competed in the Golden Gloves, but didn't have too much success. Sparred with a lot of good talented pros. Not name guys ,but good guys who never made it big for some reason or another, whether it be the streets or poor management. I fought in a few smokers, and I also have competed in the Toughman, which I plan to do again. I never could find a real good trainer who knew his ****, was trustworthy, and could really give me alot of time. I still train to keep in the game and still love the sport, and I have started to train guys now, in hopes of giving them the trainer that I never get.

I started boxing at nine, after i saw a film about a young pro boxer i now forget.

I was an angry aggresive kid and my previous playground scufles had realy convinced me i was a hard case. So when i started and was battering the other kid's and showing real potential, i thought i was the next jack dempsey[my idol]. I was quick strong, had natural strength and stamina and a rock like chin even as a kid. I also liked the training especially hitting the bags and when my trainer's told my dad after one session that i was a born fighter; i began to think being a world champion was my destiny.

I started first doing gym bout's and i often got told i had a special talent by the old fella's and this realy encourged me. I then at 11 started to box properly and only fought a few times; because i preferred fishing?

At 18 i thought i'd start again and went back as a tall light heavy, strangely i wasn't as good as before and was being bashed this time by an england international amatuer, but being the determined type i just kept coming back hoping to beat him.

I then changed clubs and boxed for three years winning some and losing some, but continually getting better.

I was a growing boy and at 22 i was a 6,4 16 stone super heavyweight without an ounce of fat on me, so i decided to get serious and head to scotland. Being half scottish i moved to inverness in an attempt of making it as a fighter and boxing for scotland as i thought the like's of david price etc where at that stage beyond me. I thought scotland gave me more chance of championship success, so moving there was to me a wise move before turning pro. I was about to enter the scottish Aba's when disaster struck, the reason was i got in trouble and for some reason i hit the bottle [i know stupid] and my life spiralled out of control. I was in and out of jail, perennially boozed up and i just couldn't motivate myself to train.

Now i have given up boxing, and i do bodybuilding and martial art's instead, i think i could've been a good fighter but it just wasn't meant to be!

Joined Petronellis Gym in April-July 08, Amazing meeting famous faces and nice guys like Riddick Bowe and Goody Petronelli to help you. The guy who started out training me, Skip Jones, was amazing and saw alot of potential in me(or so he said)....I was due for my first live fight july 28....but I decided to pursue becoming a Navy SEAL so once I enlisted in the Navy I had to devote my full time to Navy SEAL training....so I left petronellis gym. I feel bad because I have not spoken to my trainer since...and he probably wonders what happened as he was real interested in me. I dont regret it though, because what I am doing with my life right now is far better and just as tough

    - Boxing is one of those sports I found is so much harder than it looks...when i first sparred with an experienced kid I came out with a bloody nose, red face, and look of embarrasement that i got my ass kicked...but you know what that happens. Its about getting ur ass back in the gym the next day and working harder.....During my time I learned so amazing techniques and felt a good deal of progression. I am still young at 21, so I will go back to boxing eventually....I believe they teach alot of Strike techniques in navy SEAL hand to hand combat training..

I had a very good left jab(he said my best weapon), quick hands, fair movement....Had some decent pop in my punch. my defense needed alot of work though, my footwork needed refining, and my power defintley could have used improvement, and of course i need alot more experience. 5'10 150lb

18-6 as an amateur.... Tore apart my right shoulder after missing a hook shot, only to screw it up worse while working a construction job.... By age 18, I was done.... Then began running around town with a bunch of ******* friends for the next several years and I became side-tracked, and was hitting the Skunk Bud and doing Beer Bongs at neighborhood parties.... Packed on 40 pounds and said goodbye to 165 FOREVER!!! Christ, now I'd be stoked just to linger around 182 to 190 these days..... The older I get, the more of a degenerate I've become.... I love the damn local Chinese buffet.... Peace....

:D That description fits me as well, Suze. My jab was also my best punch and my hands were also quick, but my defense was...well, leaky. My slow feet didn't help in catching the speedsters either.

 I can relate to that. I'd have to chop off a leg (or maybe both) to get anywhere near welterweight again.
