Known as "Lil Hagler", Freddie Norwood was a scourge of the division for some time until a combination of inactivity, weight and legal issues completely detailed his extremely promising career.

Take a look at one of the more obscure but also skilled operators of the recent past at the lower weights, he's a fighter that deserves a second chance.

If anyone bothers watching this entire fight, it has a knockout of the year contender as a cherry on top.

I tell you what, Norwood is an expert in veteran ring tactics.
He popped Juan's cherry if you skip the DQ at the start of his career and beat his dick like a couple at bible camp.
He goes into Willie's Crotch Shot H.O.F. with champs like Golota, Salido, Gerry Cooney, Tszyu, Holyfield, and Cotto.
Gotta secure that win by any means.

No more than Chris John but one learns to move one. Marquez went on to become a legend and John and Norwood are mere footnotes in that story.

Absolutely I remember him. Think they used to call him little Hagler due to looks but seem to remember him being compared to Whittaker for his skills.
I was always interested in a Hamed/Norwood match up. I think at one time that was a massive FW fight that could have been made.

I was going to do a post about decent forgotten champs of recent years and had a few names in mind with Norwood being one of them

Norwood wasn`t bad but Naseen Hamed would have sparked him.

The way he lost his undefeated record and title to Gainer still makes me feel sick.

I remember scoring the Marquez match 8-4 for Marquez. That was pure robbery. If he'd have gotten the nod, Marquez wouldn't have had to wait years for another title shot and his career would have followed the same kind of brilliant trajectory that Morales, Barrera, and Pacquiao's did.

Also, I'm not sure it was Norwood, but I seem to remember a foulfest with Gainer or something around that time.

A legend? His best win was Juan Diaz.

Dude, Marquez will go down as a legend. Too many big fights and that Pacquiao KO cemented his status as a Mexican legend.
