Dont get me wrong, I like the dude. He is a tough SOB and someone who always tries to make fights interesting.

Although I have never really seen him as a top tier fighter, I really do think he needs to retire sooner, rather than later.

The fight last weekend was meant to be a tune up. Although I think he clearly won the fight, he was put through a significant war that in reality, he really didn't need to go through.

When he got dropped in the 4th round, I thought he was out cold. If you look back on the footage, when the left hand from Martinez lands, Guerrero goes limp & then takes another 8 or 9 shots while he appears unconscious.

I know KO's happen in boxing. I know people get knocked down and get back up all the time. But this guy, with his style, he is going to get seriously hurt in there if he carries on fighting the way he does.

Not as much as some other guys that fought on that same card (Darchinyan, who's able to muster good efforts but only in small doses; Lacandon Cruz who's 38, ancient for his weight range, and just can't hang with the young guys anymore; and Angulo who could be on his way to Parkinson's) - but yeah.

    Pretty much this.

If Robert sticks to Boxing like he used to, then he can go for quite a while longer, he needs to give up or at least modify his trench war style that Ruben had put into his head, or he's going to get badly hurt.

Provodnikov vs Guerrero or something could be a war. Although it Guerrero goes trench war style he gets stopped, if he boxes he would win.

What does he have left on his contract with Haymon (fights/time or whatever)? Making a million dollars to fight that kind of competition is pretty dreamy. It would certainly be hard to walk away from those kinds of paydays considering they haven't been there for the majority of his career. BUT, his future health will almost certainly suffer if he keeps absorbing that kind of punishment.

He's fallen in love with the fan adoration and being on "Bang Bang" Lampley's bullsh!t Gatti list. He needs to first, take a longer break to let his body recover. Then get back to boxing in fights when needed. He likes to slug too much and he does not have the power. Rueben was practically begging him to box more.

Being in a few fights that you've made harder work of than necessary does not mean you should hang them up. That's way extreme. Should Steph Curry retire after a horrible game 2?

It was OBVIOUS from his pre-Berto fight talk that he was moving N to fight Mayweather.

However, beating Mayweathers 2 yr mandatory, Aydin didnt get him the fight, b/c the ABCs dont impose mandates on Floyd.

However, once someone beats one of Mayweather's imposters, it almost automatically gets them the Mayweather fight.

    Ortiz, Guerrero, Madaina.

Mayweather knows his imposters are trash, so he lets them lose to his light work before fighting the guys.

The Pac fight was a gift to the boxing comunity, and undoutbetly Mayweather wishes that Pacquioua would make a quick return.

Not only was it a gift tot he fans, but monetarily speaking, the rematch, vs a HEALTHY PAC will add intrigue to the fight, and should it be his 50th fight, he'd have already made it to Rocky's record, and beating Pacquioa a second time would almost make him bust a nut at the thought for his 50th.

Now, he's just gotta start with Brook talk to make Khan sign for the September date.:lol::lol:

Oh, as for the OP, I'd love for him and ALL Mayweather's oppnents to become the GATEKEEPERS they really were.

So far, both Ortiz and Guerrero(gifts vs Kamegi and Martinez:lol::lol::lol::patsch:patsch:patsch) are prvoing how worthless they really were.

Now, can't wait to see Madaina get smoked by Marquez, Bradley, Thurman, Porter, Brook, or Rios.
Hell, Errol Spence, RIGHT NOW, and ALI RIGHT NOW, would make mince meat of Madiana and STOP him.:good:good

He's getting paid a million per fight and he's in his early 30's.

If I were him I would fight for another 2 years and retire with millions in the bank.

I was surprised at how much he struggled with this guy. I never thought of Guerrero as all that special at welter so him struggling doesn't surprise me but vs this guy it does.

Thurman beat him up and hit him with some bombs. The last few fights he had probably took their toll.

I have no problem with him fighting on and making a living but what is a level down from this level for an easy fight?

If Martinez didn't gas Guerrero doesn't get this W
