Who here thinks Tony Bellew can go all the way

Yep and all the experts here class Clev as utter **** so it don't bode too well for the lad if he can't beat **** fighters like young Clev .

Would love to see Clev / Bellew down here in Cardiff though .

 

I don't get why a lot of people don't like Bellew? Here's a good bloke.

I know he talks a lot but that's what makes him interesting. Would you prefer him to be silent and boring? Besides, the only person he really talks **** about is Cleverly and who doesn't do that? Before their fight everyone was behind Cleverly and against Tony, since then the roles have reversed because Tony put such a gutsy and heartfelt performance on whilst Cleverly has become the biggest joke in the sport with his recent "title defences".

Most people, like me, root for Tony because he's a humble and honest but fiery lad. He says himself he wants to be successful for his family and that he's no different from the guy in street.

I'd really love it if he became world champion. I think he's definitely improving but still has some holes in his game that he has to improve on. This next fight with Chilemba (who's a very good fighter) should tell us how close or far away Tony is from competing with the true elite fighters.

don't let your personal opinion of the fighters get in the way that was a close fight and either man could have taken it that night with little arguement.

 

I thought Bellew was the clear winner, with the better, more quality work, Cleverly's engine and workrate wasn't enough for me, he should have had at least 1 point taken off for blatant low blows as well, imo.

 

The majority of people think he beat Cleverly (I scored it 115-113 Bellew), but it wasn't a robbery at all could have gone either way. However, he has improved since then and box's alot more instead of trying to be a banger. He knows Cleverly has a good chin, so if they fight again I think he'd box his way to a victory (again)

 

I don't recall everyone being on Clevs side prior to their fight mate in fact this board was mostly Bellew , it is a sad trait that here in Britain the sport is so tribal that the minority of fans feel compelled to root for one or the other , from my point of view I like Clev but wish he and **** face would step things up and also support Bellew apart from a small minority of his brain dead football type supporter fans what's not to like ? The lad is a genuinely honest pro and a fighter that is easy to support .

 

Do they? I thought Clev gets **** for been a paper thin world champ and never stepping up.

Frank gets most of the stick, but I can't remember a mass of posters suggesting Clev is utter ****.

 

Well it's the opinion I get every time I click on a thread mentioning his name .

 

Im not sure about him winning a world title but It wont be down to his ego, he's a down to earth guy.

 

Sure and I can't argue with your opinion I just think the idea that it is some kind really bad decision is unfair. Its been a while since I saw the fight but I remember Clev taking a few of the later rounds due to Bellews inactivity, either way it was a close competitive fight.

 

He hasn't had to though has he?

Finished off McIntosh easily enough, the same with Miranda (although could have stopped him earlier if he hadn't kept standing off him when he had him in trouble), and was looking good again in his last fight until the cut which he coped with very well at got the easy points win in the end.

He raised his game for the Clev fight, because he had to, but he showed he can fight at that level.

 

All the way in a somewhat shallow division where only 3-4 guys are head and shoulders above him? Yeah, why not.

 

Yeah I can see you're point and it was close(ish), I'm not a big fan of fighters that rely on workrate and a good chin, I'm not saying Cleverley's a **** fighter or anything, its that I'm more inclined to score for quality over quantity, I prefer a Boxer-Puncher/ Counter puncher to a high work rate, speedster type of fighter.
