Who here thinks Tony Bellew can go all the way

Definitely thats the style I prefer I just felt Clev took a fair few of the rounds after the 6th through Bellew failing to throw much at all. Like I said I had no problem scoring it either way just feel its unfair on Clev for people to say he shouldn't of won it through a dislike of the guy. I'm at the front of the queue to criticise him for his pathetic excuse for a title run but that doesn't take away his performance against Bellew.

 

The first half of the fight Bellew was dominating, outboxing the bandana wearing fool with his jab. Then he seemed to gas, and Cleverly's workrate took over. He's definitely one of them Calzagh type pitter patter punchers. I scored it a draw, but I feel Bellew would easily win a rematch.

 

I disagree I'm not a Clev fan but felt Bellew fought his perfect fight (until he gassed) and still came up short. I feel the rematch would be just as close with Clev boxing more intelligently but Bellew not gassing as fast. Would enjoy seeing them two fight again at some point.

 

I do think being punched in the bollocks a fair few times played its part in slowing Bellew down.

 

With Clevs power he probably just thought he was getting tossed off and stopped throwing because he was so confused by his emotions.

hopkins make a mockery of his attempts to look halfway decent and exposes him for the caveman style boxer he really is

pascal is also disappointing so he'd make it close due his poor ring iq. he'd trade with bellew which would give the brit half a chance but i think pascal's speed would carry the day

i think people outside of the uk and ireland on this board need to realise that many of these british 'prospects' are just not good enough and are made look good by fighting guys like ovill mckenzie and antonio brancaleion(?)

obviously there are exceptions e.g. burns has proved me wrong and turned out much better than expected, but he is still not as good as the best in his division

overall, fighters who are based in britain and build their names with frank ****** on sky sports are really not up to scratch and would be dismantled if faced with elite opposition, with some exceptions of course

 

I think Bellew can win one of the belts, I don't think he will go on to unify or be the man of the division but he has a chance against Pascal, Cloud or Shumenov and possibly Dawson who I've never been blown away by.

As for the Cleverly fight, I can't score it for Tony Bellew and I've watched it three times. It was even going into the last two rounds which Tony unfortunately lost. He admitted he knew he had lost it after before the scores were announced so that's good enough for me, a rematch could be very different though and it was very close. Only tiredness stopped him from doing it.

 

I think he's coming into his prime at the right time. In 2-3 years I expect him to have cleaned out the division (but with 1 or 2 more losses) and moved up to Cruiser.

I think by the time Bellew's 35-36 he'll be a Heavyweight.

There's only one Liverpool Fighter will genuine world level talent, and that's David Price.

I don't know why people from Liverpool feel obligated to wank over every Liverpool fighter.

Its like they know them personally.

 

I'm from Liverpool and I don't wank over every Scouse fighter. I've said before that I ****ing hate Paul Smith and think he's a deluded idiot. Derry Mathews too, heart of a lion and a real warrior but he's only ever been a domestic level fighter, every time he's stepped up he's beaten handily so he can stop banging on about challenging for big titles.

Price has the raw talent needed but still needs to pick up some experience at a high level.

Bellew is a good fighter who has talent but still needs to work on a few things if he wants to beat the best. I don't know why you keep insisting he has to move up to CW. There's been nothing in his previous 5 or so fights that suggest he has any problems at LHW.

Anyway, fans should get behind their local fighters in most cases. It's good for their cities' reputation if they produce champions.
