Who hit harder ? Bert Cooper or Mike Tyson ?

I forgot to relate to the red part previously.
    It is wrong.
I don't know twice harder than what : than himself or than Tyson .
But anyway - as u probably think it's almost d same and unimportant , if Cooper hit "twice as hard" whatever u meant , he would have been d hardest puncher in history which would have meant that Holyfield , Moorer and others would not have risen from d KDs they suffered which would have turned those KDs into KOs which is not exactly d same thing , if I m not mistaken .
This might have made him a much more avoided contender , a David Tua with a lesser punch resistance , but probably yet even harder hitting than Tua . So I think it would have mattered , especially as Cooper proved 2 b able 2 land his punches.

You are taking this a little too serious. Anyway, what I meant was... even if Cooper punched twice as hard as Tyson... Tyson would still have the better results vs. common opponents. Yes, I'll stand by that statement. Cooper probably would have found a way to lose to Mercer, Gross, Williams, Foreman, Bowe, Holyfield, Moorer, etc. even with the added power.

He floored Holyfield & Moorer and maybe another 1 from d list u gave with the power he actually had in reality. Why do u think that if he had more than twice (as u think he didn't have more than Tyson) power than what was sufficient for him 2 achieve those KDs , they would have still gotten up ? if Moorer didn't get up from Foreman & Tua , and floored by Cooper , why would he have gotten up from Cooper *2 , a similar argument with Holyfield and others . And if he was such a hard puncher , he would have put people out with grazing punches.

Fighters like Holyfield fought Cooper a little differently than they would Mike Tyson. Dont you think that has something to do with it? Of course it does.

    This.

Can't believe some people aren't factoring that in.

Differently indeed : vs Tyson he felt comfortable enough to only butt and hug , vs Cooper both Holyfield and Moorer needed their gloves 2b retaped so they will get d time to recuperate from Cooper's power that put them down and almost out.

But you probably meant that Holyfield fought Cooper less carefully . Since when does Holyfield take any of his opponents lightly ?

Both could crack, but cooper had poor finishing ability. Michael Moorer was never known for having a particularly durable chin.. Cooper had him down something like twice if I recall, but couldn't close the show. Had Tyson been in cooper's position that fight would have been over quick. Bert had a decent KO percentage and stopped a lot of guys, but I think the QUALITY of his opposition has to be taken into consideration as well. Mike destroyed a fairly durable opponent in Trevor Berbick, something I don't know if Cooper could do.

Another thing that I was about to type previously but forgot in the last moment but recalled now and u don't factor in is d promotional , public and commercial support that Tyson had and Cooper hadn't . If 2 Tyson opponents had their gloves retaped like this immediately after a significant KD .. imagine it happened 4 Tyson vs Pinklon Thomas . Actually I need 2 rewatch it as Thomas had Dundee in his corner and Dundee invented that trick 4 Ali . What d public (fans) , Don King , Kevin Rooney etc would have done ? b silent about it ? I don't think so.

And another thing : Holyfield fought Cooper d way he was supposed (trained) 2 fight Tyson .. Cooper was Tyson's replacement vs. Holyfield ..

OK , now I watched Cooper vs Savage , and wasn't that impressed (referring only 2 this 1 fight) because of these reasons :
    1) It was Savage's first , last and only fight let alone round in professional boxing .
    2) Savage already had 42 listed bareknuckle fights behind him at that point
    3) Savage's age isn't listed , he looks old , fat and bald in there.
    4) Savage was on his way up (from the 2nd KD) , but the referee assured that he wasn't .. I mean how many people would have overcame the referee on their way up from a KD , would Holyfield and Moorer ? I doubt it. Actually I don't . I know they couldn't. It was a takedown by the referee ..
And Cooper landed combination even prior to the first KD , really far from a 1
    punch KO ..

But I want all of this post 2b only taken in regards 2d Joe Savage fight , and not as anything decisive about/in regards 2 this thread's purpose.

It may be close but I say Tyson. Young Tyson was more ferocious, threw more punches and was a stronger finisher, too. Punch for punch it's hard to say.

Unfortunately Bert Cooper is still boxing.

Cooper hits far harder than tyson according to oliver McCall who sparred prime tyson for years.Hit harder doesn’t makes better fighter . cooper put his opponents into fully unconscious tyson never did. Plenty of journeymans or fringe contenders hits harder than world champions but many of them lacked/lacks abilities to always land those big bombs but when they landed it right on their opponent’s chin they can put opponents into fully unconscious. For example,Bert cooper,Earnie shavers etc Tyson never puts single one of his opponents into fully unconscious like tua did to Ruiz. Lots of people don’t realize that when they are counting tyson as top hardest punchers in history. Tyson was much better fighter and more effective puncher than Bert cooper for sure.but not raw power. Tyson never had that raw power of the outlier cooper who punches way above his 215ib weight, cooper dropped a prime Holyfield with a big clean right hand , Tyson landed couple of big clean ones on the washed Holyfield yet Holyfield was merely stunned.

MrMagoo with a quality post from the past. I agree with this. If tyson had you hurt, its probably goodnight. You might still get away from Cooper though. Bert had a savage punch on him though.

It's s a similar situation has Floyd Patterson , Henry Cooper and Ali .
Patterson put Henry down but Ali could not , Cooper meanwhile put Ali down but couldn't Patterson ,yet Ali put Floyd down in their first fight .
If you know what I mean !!!?
