Who hit harder? Cleveland Williams or Rocky Marciano?

The question is who hit harder, & I agree for 1 shot power likely Williams.
Though it is obvious Marciano had greater staying power, volume, & was the better fighter.

Who ever said Williams hit harder than Liston?
Do you mean that Foreman said Williams, Lyle & Cleveland hit him the hardest/
That is not convincing to me, since foreman only sparred with old Lston-said he had the hardest jab-that is very different from a real fight where you try to put someone's lights out.
Even if a few spar is search & destroy mode, I have never heard that Liston did with foreman-who said Liston was the only one to back him up.
But Foreman was very green & Liston at the end of the line.

I'm not making any convictions one way or the other. But I don't see what makes Cleveland Williams such a highly regarded hitter. A lot of those KO's were against mediocre opposition while few of them were against anybody of quality.. In addition there were 20 survivors who saw the final bell.

The case for Williams being a dynamite hitter, comes from opponents testimony, which should be taken seriously in cases where multiple fighters corroborate each other.

Fair enough but who were they? How many other universally recognized punchers did THEY face?

We could get a few together between us, but George Foreman or one said that Williams was one of the three hardest punchers he shared a ring with.

Liston faced Mike DeJohn, Nino Valdes, and Leotis Martin.

Walcott siad that the single hardest puncher he ever fought was Marciano, including Joe Louis. Archie Morre fought everyone, and said no one it as hard as Maricano, including bigger heavies he fought or sparred with

You are the kid who always adds inches to height and lbs to weight when boosting the opponents of your favourites

For your education , my favourite heavyweight is Jack Dempsey at his best under 190lbs and WHITE. You are an immature fan boy who sulks when he doesn't get the responses he expects. You want it you got it!

I tell you this, in a war of words you are Joe Grim to my Muhammad Ali.

Not so, Moore said Durelle hit him harder than Marciano.

Marciano broke bones and ruptured blood vessels...he sheared teeth off at the nubs...he smashed teeth into gums...and the teeth had to be removed...he almost killed Carmine Vingo...Vingo never fought again...it took some guys months to get over a beating from The Rock...some never recovered...gotta be Marciano...

To be fair Moore said a lot of things. At least one time he said Rocky hit hardest and on other occasions he said other people hit harder. Certainly after the fight he said Rocky hit the hardest. Even so I think Rocky landed cleaner on other fighters than he hit Moore. Perhaps that's the answer? Better punchers are the one's landing clean more often against guys that are hard to hit?
