Chuck Wepner, S**** Iron Johnson, Muhammad Ali, and Johnny Tocco all said Liston hit harder than Foreman. Yes I know alot of people will say Foreman. However Liston could hit you just as hard from a boxing stance, he didn't have to telegraph his punches like Foreman did. (No offence George lol). Also Liston did what Foreman couldn't do in dropping Johnson, and Wepner. Wepner stated a ABSOLUTELY COMPLETELY SHOT Liston hit "so much harder" than Foreman. So my pick is Liston.
Pretty clear that there was no real difference in their power I would say. Both hit about as hard as it is possible to hit.
Foreman broke Dave Jaco's back with one punch. My Ranking: 1- Rocky Marciano (1950-1953) 2- George Foreman 3- Max Baer 4- Earnie Shavers 5- Sonny Liston 6- Joe Louis 7- Jack Dempsey 8- Cleveland Williams and Vitali Klitschko 9- Wladimir Klitschko 10- Bob Satterfield and Mike Tyson
My two questions would be: 1 - Are you crazy? 2 - Why would you have Vitali abvoe Wlad for power? Literally nobody associated with those two fighters says Vitali hits harder, including Vitali (by GF). Never mind that Byrd states clearly Wlad. You think Vitali hits harder than Lewis?? You think Dempsey hits harder than Lennox Lewis? That's a bunch of questions, I know.
My take on your list would be: 1. Earnie Shavers 2. Max Baer 3. Liston/Williams/Foreman/Wlad 4. Dempsey/Louis/Marciano/Satterfield/Tyson 5. Vitally Klitschko
I have only seen three common opponents and one manager name Liston. These being Ali, Wepner, Johnson, and Tocco. Can you please give me some other names besides the above? because I never knew other fighters named Liston as a harder puncher than Foreman. This is interesting.
Three is a significant number for my mind. If one person says it you take it with a grain of salt, but if three people say the same thing, you start to think that there might be something in it.
Vitali should not be on anyone's list, he was never a one punch knockout artist, he couldn't even stop an injured Shannon Briggs.
