Well Marciano was the better finisher but Lewis in all likelihood did hit harder, still hasn't got a better knockout than the Rock though.

LOL is this a joke? Marciano fought mediocre cruiserweights and took 8-10 rounds to take them out. His punch would be like throwing cotton balls at moden day 245 lbs HWs.

How long would Lewis have taken to destroy the 190lbs bums Marciano fought? LOL This thread is an epic fail.

Lewis. Better puncher, better finisher, better boxer, better heavyweight.

    For single punches - Lewis

Marciano's forte was landing an accumulation and grinding down his opponent. There were exceptions, though. THAT knockout punch on JJW in their first fight.

Lewis was a way bigger man with a quality punch I think it's fairly logical to say he hit harder than Rocky. P4p it may be a different story.

The only way to settle this for certain would be to actually get HIT by both men - Something I wouldn't want to do..

Not really, its logical that Lewis being by far the bigger man hits harder.

I'm not disagreeing that having more weight behind one's punches could certainly contribute to having superior power. But a lot of it also has to do with body mechanics and they specific "way" that a person throws a punch. Marciano fought from a crouching position and put his whole body into some of the shots he threw. There were many heavyweights who were larger than Marciano who didn't hit as hard. Lewis was definitely a big puncher and might have hit harder than Marciano, but its not something I'm totally sold on.

I know what you are saying but I think this one is a no-brainer - Marciano tended to wear down his opponents and KO them late with his stamina, this greatly contributes to his KO percentage, I know he did KO Walcott with a great single punch.

In terms of power I think Lewis is one of the heaviest hitters of all time - I would not see Don ****ell taking to many of Lewis' shots clean on the chin and still be standing.
