if butterbean was to jump off a building and land with his fist on your head, he would produce more power than Tyson doing it, simply down to force of gravity on his fat ass. but in the ring, no way. although I am sure Elroy thinks that he could have been ATG noumber one due to his extra blubber layers (thats Elroy of the 'fat people are the best boxers' theory).
But Holyfield also stated in a GQ magazine article prior to his first fight with Lennox Lewis that Riddick Bowe was the hardest puncher he had faced. So, like with a lot of boxers, maybe Holyfield says different things at different times. In that same GQ article, Holyfield stated that Larry Holmes was the smartest, craftiest boxer he had faced.
Good point! I too believe that simply you can tell a lot about a fighter (including how hard he punches) by simply watching how he hits the bag, how his punches affect his opponents (regardless of quality of opposition), etc. In Tyson's case, very few guys were able to steamroll opponents like Tyson did (often with just one punch) or knock an opponent down numerous times from one punch (like he did to Berbick). Tyson always impressed me more with his knockouts than did guys like Foreman or Shavers.
George hit Moorer with a few stiff right hands prior to the one that knocked him out in the 10th. In the second round, George hit Moorer with a real crisp right hand (right on the button) that backed Moorer up a bit, but Moorer came right back with a shot of his own. George landed a few more good rights over the next several rounds as well; one in the 8th wobbled Moorer a bit. But Moorer held up well until the 10th.
Yes indeed. I was just giving the village idiot some fuel is all. It's obvious if Foreman would've been able to put more than one punch together earlier in the fight than Moorer would be in serious trouble throughout. I believe Moorer's chin is poor, on the cusp of glassyness, even.
Now now Sandria no need to get on at me because you're the only gay in the village. :nut P.s ****** it's glassiness! :good
That Moorer wasnt facing Holyfield after spending 4 years in prison and fighting about 8 rounds in 5 years was he? He didn't take repeated bombs off Foreman, Foreman hardly landed anything. If anything Foreman reserved his power and only unleashed the full force in the later rounds when he laid Moorer the **** out.
And those 4 years in prison most likely saved Tyson's chin from softening up by missing big fights he would have likely taken. You either can take the punches or you can't, Ali's chin wasn't affected by his absence now was it?? That proves you haven't even watched the fight, those straight rights that were landing on Moorer the whole fight were real heavy shots. You're just repeating what you've seen or heard about the fight, believe me Foreman was throwing hurtful shots from the start.
Yes punch resistance can erode, especally when you havent been training. You've obviously never boxed before. Tysons eroded punch resistance was obvious in the first fight when even Holyfields jabs were making him flinch. Thats normally a sign of eroded punch resistance and/or lack of quality sparring. In the Foreman/Moorer documentary Foreman more or less admitted, it was his version of the rope a dope.
