Both were devastating punchers in their prime. I really can't decide...but am leaning towards Foreman in the power stakes.

I wouldn't even say Tyson hit harder than Lennox lewis.

Compare common opponents and Lewis was the more devastating one except for the Frank Bruno fight.

Tucker, Ruddock, Biggs, Botha, Golota all were either put away sooner or Knocked down. where Tyson couldn't.

Tysons KOs just looked more spectacular.

Hard to compare the two since they were different kinds of punchers.

Tyson's power came from speed and ferocity and the torque created from his waist and Foreman was more the power of a huge strong man imposing his physical dominance, more thudding, arm-type punches.

I wouldn't want to get hit by either guy, but it's basically futile to say who hit harder.

    foreman for me.
it usually had to be technically perfect for tyson(leverage, balance, timing etc),whereas foremans often looked sloppy, casual, armpunchers, but the effect was devastating.only needed a few inches leverage too.
in his youth,he didnt even seem to load up and often looked untrained in power punching technique.

Foreman had unsurpassed, superhuman natural power:yikes :scaredas:

    Foreman.

It is a leverage issue here.

The limits of Tyson's power can be seen in the McBride fight*

    *Shot or not.

At his peak, Tyson. His speed combined with his power made him a far more devastating and powerful puncher, and it was evident in some of his knockouts. Look what he did to Spinks, who had never been down. I think Spinks eyes did a complete 360 in his head, before he came back to consciousness.

    Foreman.

Tyson had speed and power, to shock his opponents and knock them out.

Foreman wasn't fast, he was just as strong as an ox.

Spinks was very light in weight.

I can not see Tyson doing anything like that to guys like McBride.

youve inadvertantly weakened your argument there lefthook.
Spinks was a terrified, blown up light heavy in his 30's who had been out for a year.

Tyson was a combination puncher, seldom KO'ing his opponents with 1 punch. He'd land a bomb stun them, maybe they'd go down or wobble and then he'd swarm them with combos that they couldnt deal with on unsteady legs. Foreman often blew you away with 1 or 2 bombs. Frazier was different, he kept trying to get up. Silly man! Tyson in that situation always decided to stay down. I think he could've got up with Lewis, and Danny Williams. His heart was found wanting, and he only turned up for a payday for the last few fights. You know I'm right dont ya!
