So I was debating this with my friend today. Who hits harder with a single punch, Cotto or Pacquiao?

I feel Cotto hits harder with one shot. Especially his body shots. Pac however lands far more hard shots with speed and angles that people do not see coming and is therefore a more "dangerous" puncher.

    What weight?

147 pac all day 154 probably cotto because he is more comfortable at the weight and has a lot less strain making 154 hence pac not going higher than a 150 catch weight :bbb

Well, Mosley's convinced that Pacquiao is probably hardest puncher he's ever faced. And Margarito, another guy who's faced both guys, would probably also say Pacquiao hits harder. I can't remember Cotto ever having Margarito hurt, whereas Pacquiao rocked him badly with that one right-hook, as well as a brutal shot to the body.

I'm talking about Prime Cotto. My friends argument was that since Cotto is physically bigger. Pacquiao does what he does because of his speed, which allows him to punch with a lot of combinations but Cotto hits harder with one punch.

Prime Cotto couldn't rock or deter Margarito with his punches, but Pacquiao could.

Cotto wasnt sitting on his punches as he was on the back foot all night. Pac was circling and landing in bunches. Speed is def a factor tho, it creates a different type of power.

That was fighting off the backfoot without planting his feet too. He sure damaged his face though and some would say, softened up Tony's chin.

I say Cotto but Cotto's power is more of a thudding type of power. I think Pacquiao's speed and angles allows him to hit guys that aren't expecting the punch and he lands more than Cotto too. But just one punch power I say Cotto. He knocked Clottey down with a jab.

Marg did fight a prime Cotto and didn't back up one bit. He fought Manny and was backing up in the 4th round from body shots. But Pacquiao can move and still put all his power in his shots. Cotto can't so Cotto has the ability to punch harder, it's just limited.
