been thinking about this recently, it was provoked by many a poster describing peter's power as overrated. whilst he does have good impressive punching power he seems to be pretty poor at delivering the blows with that clubbing style of his. peter has 29 wins, 22 by KO. haye of course is a KO machine who has much better delivery but at a slightly lower weight class. in his one HW outing he blasted tomaz bonin out in 1. he has 20 wins, 19 coming by KO. unlike peter, haye has knocked out a high class opponent in mormeck, although he had been stopped before but haye did it in chilling style. peter's most impressive KO win came at the expense of jeremy williams. not a great fighter but again, another chilling KO. peter has been taken the distance by the likes of toney X2, mccline and hawkins. haye only by ismail abdoul. so who has the more natural power? is peter potentially more powerful but simply not good enough technically to show it? is haye the less powerful but more effective puncher of the two which allows him to blow guys out so easily? or is there more to it? who hits harder out of these two bangers?
Very difficult to say until we see Haye against some decent heavyweight competition Haye's punches are certainly technically far better delivered, and with his speed and accuracy he is likely to catch heavyweights with the better cleaner punches Peter probably has a lot of power, unfortunately he's catching guys ears half the time
P4P then? Haye hits harder without a doubt p4p, not sure anyone comes close. At HW what does Haye weigh, 220? I would think he still hits harder, he has a massive advantage like you say in his delivery, and his speed is tied into that, and as they all say, its the punches you dont see that hurt the most
indeed. my issue though was that people haven't been describing peter's actual devliery as poor, or his technique, but actually saying he has overrated punching power. just wanted to get a general feel.
Peter hits plenty hard enough, he is just crude with his technique which hinders him. Haye has good technique and excellent speed, combined with his power, its a devastating combination Just ask Mormeck/Bonin, Enzo maybe?
OFF TOPIC but....... enzo. who exactly has that fraud proved his power on exactly? he couldn't shift wayne braithwate who was more shot than a rifle belonging to charlton heston.
Peter has got power, but he can't deliver for ****. So in my honest opinion, Haye hits harder, because he can actually hit his target, and that's what it's ALL ABOUT
I suppose no-one of real note, he does need to step up the comp, although this is a Warren fighter, so it might be a while yet :yep
Nobody It pisses me off how the BBC and Setanta talk about their power in equal measures Enzo really doesn't have anything other than good power. His ratio is nothing outstanding for a cruiser, and he hasn't knocked anybody decent out. I wouldn't say his power is better than Mormeck's and it is certainly not as much as a guy like Bell
Sam Peter has ZERO...NONE, NADA knockouts against any top 10 heavyweight. JAMES TONEY has more knockout wins against top guys than Peter does. He knocked out Holyfield who is miles above anyone Peter has ever knocked out.
At the moment i would say Haye hit's harder Sam Peter's power is overrated :yep :yep :yep I think guys like Briggs, Brewster, McCall and Tua are hitting harder than this guys. I'm not sure maybe Maskaev hit's harder than Peter
Peter would be a life taker if he was matched vs cruiserweights. Haye's power might only solid at heavyweight. Peter hits harder.
Peter would have to make cruiser for that to be relivent, :good. Doubt he would have much power then.
Exactly. It does not matter how powerful you are if you cannot deliver to the front of the head. In addition, while Haye is probably the most powerful CW, his power in the HW division remains a big question. Just because he KO'd a bum in 1 does not mean anything sagnificant.
