Haven't seen much of Sosa, but Toney had him as the hardest puncher he faced so he must have had a good punch.

"Sam Peter is the hardest puncher I’ve fought, but pound-for-pound it’s Sosa because he hurt me the most. I’ll never forget that fight, we fought on an ESPN show in Atlantic City on a Sunday. I went at him like I did everyone back then and that mother f_____ hit me so hard in the third round I was seeing triple for the next three rounds." - James Toney

"He was one of the guys who I had to be wary of his power. I think one of the things that helped him was his stance. Merqui was somewhat handicapped by his legs but in the ring, it actually helped him and added to his punching power. The way he would leverage himself to throw his over-hand right. Byron had a reputation as being a big puncher. Demetrius Jenkins was a good puncher. I would still say it’s Merqui Sosa."
    - Frank Liles

"Merqui missed me with a shot that almost buckled my knees. If that had landed it would have been different. I was like, ‘Wow, this guy’s trying to kill you!’ I went to work on him after that and got the fight over. Tarver had good punching power, but he didn’t punch harder than Merqui Sosa." - Roy Jones jr.

Going by these testimonies there's definitely an argument for Sosa as the heavier puncher.

GGG has a terrific punch, but he's not a one-pinch lights out guy like Jackson, G-Man or Benn, so that Sosa might have punched slightly harder doesn't seem that far fetched.

Close. I’ll go with Sosa, he just couldn’t deliver his hardest anywhere near as well as GGG.

I believe RJJ said the same thing.

So who says GGG was the hardest puncher they ever faced?

I dunno. I think GGG honestly. But it really doesn’t matter because you’ll be slept by either In an unlucky moment.

    Golovkin.

The guys that say he doesn't have one-punch power aren't paying attention. He's stopped guys with freaking jabs before. Just because GGG doesn't come out throwing wild punches like a friggin gorilla doesn't mean he doesn't put the mustard on them when he needs to.

We could ask this guy but I think they're still trying to revive him

The guy who lost twice to Crazy Kim?

Looking at his resume, if he doesn’t say GGG was the hardest hitter he faced it would be quite an indictment of Genady.
