Vitali hits harder on average, Fury punches harder for best-for-best shots

Vitali before retirement and clearly. Most of the points I skimmed are certainly making what would be perfectly good points with prime Fury against a very different comeback Vitali. You can't seriously compare Kevin Johnson's VK to Kirk Johnson's. Those aren't the same punches. Vitali hit hard like a Ray Mercer not like a Lennox Lewis but still harder than Fury. Fury is simply not a puncher. He's a creative hitter as a result-getting feature more than being a harder than average hitter by brute force. I've never seen either fight but I am guessing from looking at their records on Wikipedia.

Fury hits harder, and if he were fighting Vitali’s competition, there’s definitely potential for him to have a 90% ko rate or higher. Vitali was pillow fisted, even with poor technique, a true heavy handed fighter wouldn’t need that level of volume to take opponents out. I’ve said before, true punchers like Foreman, Duran, and GGG have still hurt their opponents with slow arm shots. Vitali was never on that level of power, but so many pretend that he was for some reason.
