    Canelo has the footwork of a 40yo man, go watch the Mosley fight and tell me I'm wrong with a straight face.

    Ortiz is also faster with his hands and much more active than Canelo

    That been said, Canelo would have destroyed him anyway because Ortiz is a no defense having mental midget.

    Canelo hits harder but he's slower and he doesn't punch with his opponents the way ortiz does. So the result is that Ortiz knocks guys down more but gets knocked down more himself.

    I think Ortiz hits harder, It says something when you have a high KO percentage as high as his, and in my opinion he's faced the better competition. Canelo has good power too, but I was a little thrown back in the Mosley fight, it seemed like he hit Mosley with shots that would have dropped anybody, but Mosley continuously came forward. I know Mosley has an iron chin, but Pacquiao managed to floor him, and Pacquiao is a lot smaller than Canelo, and does not have canelo's power.

    Its speed and timing that makes power affective. Canelo doesn't have it on the level that Pac does. Or Ortiz. Ortiz likes to hold his shots until he's in the right position to throw them. He really sells out hard to get the right shot. Canelo throws his shots from the outside and lets his volume and combination punching open up wholes.

    @Money

    I think we are in agreement, but power is effective even if absent of speed and timing. Tito Trinidad use to have this punch that he would land to an opponents hip, during the fight it just looked like a normal body shot, but in reality it was much more than that. The punch was intentional, to try and take the opponents legs away. These punches didn't require much timing or speed, just accuracy, and as long as he caught that hip bone, you would have a severe limp in the following weeks after the fight. I think power is more about leverage, and Trinidad had great leverage in fact I think that's the one most important aspect to punching power. Did mean to make this about Trinidad!
