Foreman. Not even a hard question, he hit like a howitzer with two hands, all sorts of punches. Beyond his left hook, Dempsey's worth as a power puncher decreases noticeably.
lo hath modern man "George Foreman" ever stopped legendary toughmen giants like Fabulously Tall Fulton, Freakishly Tall Firpo or Wondrously Tall Willard? Towering rugged punchers of no equal among giants of his time? I think not whippersnappers, i think not.
The uppercut in the combo he finished Firpo with and the right hand that murdered Brennan with @ 10:00 here disagree. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFxcNfXMA60[/ame]
It took George Foreman 2 whole rounds to bounce a little stout man like 5'11, 217lb Joseph Frazier off the canvas a mere 6 times. In stark contrast, William Dempsey damn near did a manslaughter, pummeling the giant & thought-to-be invincible (3 years retired) World Heavyweight Champion Jess Willard, a leviathan hulk of a man, towering tall at 6'6, & carrying a strong 245lbs of beer & beef jerky, onto the canvas 7 cruel times in the 1st round alone! :scaredas::!: lo behold William Dempsey, most powerful puncher in all human history. :deal
Two instances, even if one was against the strongish chinned Brennan, do not a great right hand puncher make.
I don't understand the words you're choosing to differentiate, Surf. :? I usually mean one-shot power when I say "punch for punch".
Oops. What I meant was that Foreman threw consistently harder shots, but that Dempsey could occasionally unload an explosive punch that was harder than GF's best punch. GF was a heavy-handed clubber. Dempsey's punches, when he got the proper leverage and timing, could be more explosive. Almost like comparing Earnie Shavers or Mike Tyson to GF. Just a different kind of punching power. Maybe I should have had my coffee before I posted
