I'm not sure anyone has ever taken George Foremans "best punch" but I'm positive It would be harder than Jack's best punch on any occasion.

Wrong. He KO'd Fulton(#1 contender) inside a single round with a right hand to the heart, left hook to the top..... But finished him with a straight right cross to the jaw that crumpled him immediately. Dempsey was quite clearly a two handed hitter, just that his left hook was his sunday punch. Think Tyson.

He finished Gunboat Smith with a right to the jaw. Battling Levinsky as well.

Yeah, he had monstrous power in both hands.

I think it's an impossible question to answer, anyway.
Foreman clubbed guys around with more raw clubbing force, but Dempsey had quicker snappier concussive KO power.
They probably wore different types of gloves and wraps too. So it's impossible to say.

Foreman. Dempsey was the better puncher though.

Kind of like asking if you would rather be beat in the head by a baseball bat or a steel pipe? Does it really matter up to a certain point? These guys brutalized anybody they could land on.

  8. different punchers, foreman was brute strength, heavy hands, dempsey´s hitting power was from his speed. anyway foreman did hit harder with any hand, jack dempsey weighed 189 pounds, i think that guys like ron lyle, ruddock, frank bruno... did hit harder than dempsey. george foreman is in another league, he is top 2 hardest hitters.

Tommy Gibbons thought Miske hit harder than Dempsey... so I guess Miske hit harder than Foreman, too.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Foreman.
Dempsey was 190lbs, fought no-defensive having bozos for the most part, and fought with 4oz gloves.

Foreman was a wrecking machine who fought in the steroid era.

Jack Sharkey who fought both Dempsey and Louis stated that Dempsey punched harder. No one argues the power of Joe Louis. Fleischer who watched both men live from ringside also felt Dempsey hit harder.

Sharkey....."I never thought anyone could hit that hard."
