I just hate this kind of style as I consider a boxer who uses it as a bit of a cheat.
    1. Evander did it Against Tyson.
    2. Hatton did it against Tszyu.
    3. Hopkins.
    4. Then lately Shane against Margo.
I just want a great clean fight on May 2, and Hatton using this style might just ruin what could have been a great fight.

Don't Compare what Mosley legally did to the travesty Holyfield commited in which his ass should have been DQ'd not once but twice or to what Ruiz does.

There's a big difference between actual holding and just tying up a fighter. Margo has those long arms so he wasn't able to punch out of any of the clinches from Mosley. Mosley should only be getting huge props for his fight plan.

Mosley's game plan was a boxing clinic. But, I do generally agree with you. I hate watching Hatton fights. However, most people consider Hatton's tying up is totally legal and a legitimate fighting style. So while I hate it, its a part of boxing and if Hatton is to beat Pac he's going to have to tie him up, otherwise he will eat a lot of leather if he isn't pulling the trigger and then tieing the Pacman up.

I personally think Mosley's plan was brilliant but I still hate it. I just want to see them going at it without excessive holding. Shane hugs opponents too much and after a while it gets really tiresome.

Um - John Ruiz is the master of this style - That's the only example I need to hate it.

Mosley did it PERFECTLY, and they also tried to fight out of it on the inside at times. Not in the same league.

Trainers have been telling their fighters "when you're done punchin' tie him up" for almost as long as boxing has existed. It's a perfectlly legal and legitimate technic. It doesn't make the most exciting fight, but I can think of a few fights in recent years where it was the perfect game plan.

its a part of the sport.... how can you hate it?

its like saying you hate qb interference in football
    or zone defense in basketball
or designated hitter or whatever it is in baseball

just a part of the sport

Its part of boxing and it ain't stopping anytime soon. I'd rather watch somebody clinch than MMA rolling on the ground.

Of course it's part of the game and it wouldnt be the same without it but whats WRONG is doing it excessively IMO. It gets really tiresome. We want a real fight. Not a hugfest.

You thought Mosley's performance against Margarito was boring?

Because seriously, I don't mind holding and hitting if they did it like Mosley. A means to an end.

That end being a brutal knockout.
