well lets due some reasonable deduction. Joe calzageh was not as fast as he was in his prime his workrate was not were it was at his prime and he was not at his optimal weight (168lbs). his power was not where it was at prime. and not to mention his reflexes as well. and his chin was starting to diminish as well .in his prime joe didn't get hit as often either.

Rjj. still had the power , His speed had diminished but was not so bad as to say he was normal he still had blinding speed. His chin is iwhat it's always been as he never rec'd much punishment through out his career. his reflexes were not totlaty shot but certainly diminshed. his skill level was exactly the same. stamina great and alwasy in shape. when both fighter faced eachother both were dimished product of what they once were. it's like opening up a bottle of Don and letting it get warm for a few hours then taking a drink thats what we saw that night between Cal and RJJ. Cal was the better all around fighter. and he clowned JOnes. at their peaks i seea very intense battle but Joe edeges him on his work rate and beats him. Joe Could of stopped him in that 8th round and even in the 9th but he dragged him along to clown and punish him. i was quite a mean thing to do on his part and the HBO team even mentioned it

come on. if Jones had one it most certainly would . hell most jones fans uses the 1st round Knockdown (by a forearm) as proof RJJ would of destroyed hin in his prime. They act as if that was a prime Joe C:-(

very good post and i'm in agreement with most of it.

i don't agree with the last part though about calzaghe not finishing the fight to punish him, i think there was 2 reasons he didn't go for the finish that night.

1 - calzaghe knew that this was his last fight. after 8 rounds he knew that jones couldn't beat him so he wanted to savour the moment and enjoy the last few rounds of his career tryin to put on a show.

2 - the other reason i don't think he finished jones off was because he had a hell of a lot of respect for roy. i know boxers never show sympathy to an opponent but i think he wanted roy to have the dignity of seeing out the fight to the final bell.

I will say it over and over again. Calzaghe would NEVER beat a prime Roy Jones. When there were rumours of the fight at the start of the decade Roy was a -400 (4/1 ON!) favourite. When they fought at the end if the decase Joe started a -500.

That tells you all you need to know right there. Joe was good but some clowns on this forum over rate him bigtime! He barely beat a 44 year old Hopkins (and I don't think he did, I scored it 114-113). I think he hit Hopkins with 3 or 4 power shots the whole night. Hopkins face wasn't even scratched!

Joe never beat anyone! Let's get serious here. No way in hell he beats a prime Roy Jones. Debate over and anyone that says Calzaghe are wrong END OF!

Any boxing journalist worth his salt knows this. Sadly they are WAY too many clowns on this site that know nothing about boxing! Absolutely NOTHING!

Unfortunately, it seems to get worse constantly on this board, as there are more and more idiots to reinforce each others' idiocy !

Stop Hyping this dude....please.....HBO has already done that for more than a decade,1st of all Hearns will **** him up at all weights, and here is the rest that would KO his ass.

Spinks-175 would break him in half
Qwai-175 a way better meaner Montel Griffin
Moorer-175 this is the most powerful man I've seen at this weight and he was huge
Mathew Saab Muhamed-Another great puncher, and he could take a helluva shot
Hagler-160 if he found a way to beat Hearns he damn sure could find a way to beat Jones
Leonard-160/168 SRL would have been very good at this weight had been consistantly fighting
Nunn-160/168 Jones never wanted to fight him, because he didnt want to take a boxing lesson

And theres more to,these are just the 1's i named but several names were brought up throught this thread, this dude was far from superman,he ducked a bunch of people, and got knocked the **** out by a powerderpunching used to be middleweight who Hopkins beat down when he was a undefeated fighter,Tarver was a good fighter not great, but no shame of getting beat by someone of his caliber,im done.

Surrrre lunatic...only in your limited brain it did . Your "ESB Super Hero"
    This content is protected
never addressed the fact that Roy did get tagged many times before turning 35, including his fight versus a heavyweight that had already dropped Evander Holyfield before!!

He also brushed off what happens after a fighter gets clocked hard a first time, especially when aging and losing strength in his legs.

He won't address those 2 points cause it would make him look like the idiot he is..plain and simple !!!

Now do us a favor, go play in your sand box, or better yet go jack off watching the "Glass Jaw Movie" and let the adults discuss between them.

The only one I agree with there is Hagler/Leonard. Michael Moorer that just makes me laugh and laugh hard. Jones would have made him Look VERY silly. Moorer lost to a 45 year old George Foreman! Seriously dude stay of the crack. Jones would box rings around Moorer..Spinks :rofl
