I feel the top heavies today would have beaten Paterson and Ellis but what about the other champs during the 60`s?

I was just going to make this thread but about the 1950s, not the 1960s. What do you think about the fighters from the 1950s. 50-59.

For me there are plenty of examples, the Tyson Fury that frustrated Wald would have out-pointed many if not all of the champs from that era IMO.

Guys from the 1960s and 1970s get seriously over rated.

Joe Frazier would have been a very small HW.

Liston the same and probably would have been neutralised.

Foreman's power would have bailed him out.

Ali's skillset would have been enough I feel.

Ali may have out pointed some but he wouldn't be up against 180 pound left hookers or under sized /out of prime Listons who threw one of those fights anyway. Ali would have some murderous punchers in comparison to the Coopers and Folleys who wouldn't even be HW today and those are two of his best wins . Per pound today the guys are far quicker and use bigger gloves despite what many wish to believe then he faced in that era and these guys would average 6'5 235 /plus.

Don't be fooled, Ali of 71/734 could defeat ( most / some ) today in top 20 but the 60's ? Yea he looks better bc the competition wasn't as fierce as the 70's that is common sense.

The flip side is many could be champion in that era bc Ali is the only one stopping them besides Liston who is less effective vs same /bigger sized guys .

Were not allowed to look at actual video evidence when it goes against the history of JUST THIS sport ,but imagine if ANY current 180 pound boxer floored Fury,Wilder or AJ ? The fans are ridiculous dumbed down and it wont ever change unfortunaley ,we use hand picked fights to show the past guys defeating current ones....lol

Liston`s reach was longer than Wilder`s.

Shavers punched as hard as any heavyweight around today and couldn`t knock Ali out.

Yes bc Ali who was suffering from early dementia was the same Ali ? Holmes didn't even consider Shavers a hard puncher in his interview before the fight saying himself he never knocked out anyone ,im sure he changed his mind being knocked down but Holmes was 210 and getting arrogant ,in the rematch he schooled Shavers /

Why is it you guys IGNORE chins and wins? Shavers doesn't suggest he lasts long with top punchers bc he has such a weak resume with limited key wins. Holmes wasn't a puncher. Why is shavers even brought up ,he was a 70's fighter ?

Shavers punched as hard as any HW today is an opinion ,how many guys has he knocked out that could be top 10 today ?

it was the effect his punches had on Ali and Holmes, I`ve never seen Ali rocked like that, even when knocked down by Frazier or badly dazed by Cooper, Frazier rocked Ali with a shot far harder than the hook Cooper floored Ali with, it`s just that Shavers couldn`t finish that well, he looked drunk after knocking Homes down and missed all over the place, but the raw power was there, Doca found scars on Ali`s brain after that bout and Ali`s speach began to slow down dramatically.

Ali was supposed to retire by 1977 get real ,your off your rocker here now bringing Frazier into it who is also a 70's fighter really .Do you ever keep track of your threads ? I don't think you do .

If you think somehow Shavers not knocking him out proves his power I don't know what to tell you ,Ali was easily 70% at that point . lol.

I guess you missed the Holmes fight to with Tyson he was actually knocked out ? Holmes defeat Shavers 5 out of 5 and doesn't see the canvas more then once. Neither of them are 60's guys so what are you talking about anyway ?

Cooper hurt a far smaller Ali ,Cooper would not be a top puncher today at even Cruiser ,your out of your mind.
