Who In Your Opinion Had The Saddest Descent From Boxing?

The two that immediately spring to mind are Davey Moor's tragic death, and Jonny Tapia's tragic life.

 

Joe Louis, Forced to fight past him prime by a government hounding him for money after all he gave to the American people. Played along with the regime for propaganda purposes against Schmeling, Served his time in the US Army during the war, was an inspiration to all people regardless of colour and was One of American sport's greatest ever hero's, Only to end his day's broke, Drug addicted and suffering the indignity of working in a casino greeting rich white corporate gamblers. Truly sad Descent.

Good shout, any fighter getting seriously injured or killed in the ring is sad.

 

HBO had a documentary about it not too long ago. It's probably still On Demand, if you've got it. At least he seemed a little happy in the Las Vegas years, but the government granting a hero's funeral doesn't make up for stealing the man's life.

Dom holyfield is still alive and kicking. He beat valuev but got robbed. Now ali got **** kicked outta him by holmes and berbick

 

Corrales is another sad one with all that happened in his last year or so of life.
That piece of him on the Hatton vs Castillo fight was moving.

The guy in my avatar - Michael Watson, has to be mentioned, brain damaged after his second fight with Eubank but has fought on to make a pretty miraculous recovery, an amazing story. The highlight of his boxing carreer has to be knocking out Nigel Benn when Nigel was 22-0 (22 ko's).

 

It was sad to see Meldric, after having tremendous skills, still fighting as a slurred shell of his former self. McClellan however was just tragic. I feel so bad for him
