Winky had the best defence in the sport around the time Floyd was in his peak

Mayweather had the speed, agility and better offence but Wright at a time was an absolute puzzle

People were all over his name about 15 or so years ago. It just shows as time goes by good fighters can sometimes get forgotten

Don curry and starling are 2 names I never see on here. There was a time when Curry was talked about as a potential Goat at welter

I feel bad for the newer guys who only know about guys like Canelo, when im having a conversation in boxing with someone they have no clue about the fighters we saw in the past even though a lot of them were a lot better than today. I don't think I've ever met someone who knows about boxing lol

    Canelo
    Floyd
    Aj
    Manny
    Fury

You might get the odd young guy mention Tyson

I have many friends that no f all about boxing I their 30s. I think even a few thought (hoped) that conor would best Floyd

A lot of time gets spent on here bickering, but boxing can be beautiful and has a steep history

I enjoy mma now too, but boxing has a golden history

I'm older than you, but I remember watching Tyson as a little kid with dad and brothers. He was born in 54, so he was a huge Ali fan. However, his favourite era was the 80s with the fab 4 and the emergence of Tyson

He also loved the Eubank v Benn rivalry and was the first to tell me that Toney would beat both on the same night.

You make it sound as though Frazier was easy to knock out and had a glass jaw.

Norton and Frazier never faced a prime Ali.

Yes, Usyk is undefeated but he hasn't faced anyone close to the calibre of opponent that Ali faced.

Mike was crazy, people used to talk about Jack Dempsey and Marciano but Tyson could basically do everything they do but better. He probably had the best boxing genetics ever and he was so relentless. Crazy how guys basically **** themselves when they were in the ring with him like for example Spinks

And I wouldn't regard Usyk as a contender for the fighter with the highest IQ and skills in the history of the sport either.

He fought well against Joshua but I don't think it was the masterclass some people have made it out to be.

    I thought Joshua was awful.

I agree. Though Briedis is a tough fight for any man under 200 pounds in boxing history.

I do not agree that you have to KO everybody to be a great fighter, but being a big puncher does matter. I think Duran is clearly a better fighter than Mayweather, Usyk or Ali because he was a banger. You cant bumrush Duran like you can with those other guys. I still think Usyk is one of the best fighters I've ever seen on TV.

The things he says are brutal, maybe in the UK he would get arrested but he doesn't give a ****. Not surprising considering he was a gang leader, but he's pretty badass lol

The Greatest of All Time !!!!!!! MUHAMMAD ALI!!!!
REMEMBER THEY STOLE 3 1/2 YEARS OF HIS PRIME BY BANNING HIM FOR PURELY POLITICAL REASONS. Imagine what he would have done in those 3 1/2 years???

Youre a clown calling Margarito names You forget, or pretend to, he's the guy that Terrified Floyd by merely walking up to him smiling & asking " Why wont you fight me" Mayweather went ballistic stuttering & stammering in terror like Daffy Duck Finally embarrassing himself in front of the crowd , not to mention the millions on the internet that watched the tapes ROFL !!!!! Imagine if Daffy Mayweather saw Tony standing opposite him in the ring waiting for the bell for round one ???? Would never happen Daffy hadn't got the stones

I didn't say you have to KO everyone to be a great fighter and this thread isn't about great fighters.

    It's about the GOAT.

And I think the GOAT would not have to go the distance against Chisora or Joshua.

Usyk is a very, very good fighter but I wouldn't think of him for even a split second as a potential GOAT.
