Well then who is? Who in the sport has done something of the magnitude he did to Pavlik, or shown the kind of skills he put on display there?

bute is a very good fighter but first he was underrated, now overrated. i'm not sure where to rate him myself but i don't think he's top 15, nor likely 20 at this point

Where did all this Anti-Paul williams rehetoric come from? The dude looked a little off in 1 fight, vs a very solid guy. Do you all forget what he did to Margarito and Winky?

    Marcos Maidana
Ortiz beats him in a rematch, as does any top 140 pounder

It's probably just backlash from all the people who have extremely overrated PW.

He won a close fight against Margarito then goes out and gets outclassed by Quintana.

And beating a 38 year old Winky is not all that impressive!

Half the guys mentioned in this thread aren't really rated to begin with. Most Froch fans barring a few brits are well aware of his limitations, and no one at all rates Chavez Jr.

Williams isn't quite the unbeatable beast below 160 that people might have been guilty of making him out to be before the Martinez fight but he is still damned good so doesn't really have a place in this thread.

Hopkins is overrated by most in an all time sense in the general forum. In the thread about it his all time positioning recently people were slipping him up into the 20's and 30's if i remember correctly, which is ridiculous. Considering Hopkins has never beaten a prime ATG or even a HoF level fighter in their natural weight division, and gets a free pass for his lacklustre efforts against Taylor. There is definitely a double standard between Hopkins MW title reign and Calzaghe's SMW reign, though i don't rate Calzaghe particularly highly either.
